NWSL News @NWSLNews 8h @kidrauhIcares no official word on TV but matches should be steamed live on YouTube https://twitter.com/NWSLNews
According to Paulson, several home games will be broadcast locally on CSN for the Thorns. http://www.rosecitysoccerpress.com/...horns-home-matches-broadcast-locally-csn.html
Great. Now most of Portland won't get the Thorns just like they don't get Blazer games. 3 of the 4 providers in town don't carry CSN.
You know the old saying. There's a better chance you'll come into contact with BigFoot than of ever seeing the Blazers on CSN. Soon they'll be saying that about the Thorns. And Morgan has a BigFoot now too. That walking boot is the size of a fatHead poster on the wall.
Good for them. I hope they provide live stream as well. JUST IN: @CSNHouston to be official TV home of the Dash, will air 12 home games in 2014 --> http://t.co/6YguwwtO9T #DashOn— Houston Dash (@HoustonDash) March 17, 2014
I was under the impression that streaming every game was an NWSL requirement. Not to mention that the Dash will be the second team to have a TV deal. Like in Portland, CSN doesn't reach much of Houston, so they'll need streaming anyway.
So, did the league actually do anything tostandardize/upgrade the quality of streams or was that just talked about?
I think aside from shaking their finger at teams with bad streams, there's not much they can do, unless they want to directly pay for teams to get better resources or designated streaming staff.
DirecTV has every Comcast SportsNet channel, except for CSN Houston and CSN Northwest (Portland). What a bummer.
Yes, which make the Thorns selection of CSN problematic. Why on Earth would Merritt stick his nose into the hornets nest that is a Paul Allen CSN trying to dictate a monopolistic market? That whole issue is part of the reason I dropped COMCAST.
Hopefully Comcast will be cool enough to allow Portland to archive these broadcasts on their YouTube page about 24 hours after each match. Same for the CSN Houston channel (on the Dash YouTube channel). Maybe if enough people hound them with e-mails, they may do it. Or Comcast can be an arseHool about it.
Alright, so I was browsing random searches for streaming quality on YouTube for any women's sport, and I came across this. This is phenomenal HD streaming quality (great camera work as well). OCAA women's basketball. This puts NWSL streaming to shame. OCAA? Really?
I wish the mandate for improved stream quality included upgrading the commentators in some cases. I'm currently rewatching the SkyBlue-WNY match from last June, and the SkyBlue guys are terrible.
And I wish there was technology to mute commentators and just listen to the sounds of the game. I can't tell you how many sports I watch on mute
