Correct. Actually, according to the MLS draft site (at least for now) it doesn't appear that there will be a supplemental draft since this shows they have our fourth round pick.
OK, I just want Mamadou Doudou on the Revs roster now. And I want his kit. That might be one of the better names evah!
His last name is Diouf and that's what he'd wear on the back of his jersey. Great name nonetheless though.

OK---the Holidays are over. It's time to get down to some serious mental gymnastics about the draft, signings and preseason. The wood stove is fired up, a pot of coffee is on the cook stove and my appetite is more than ready for the insanity of the "hot stove league season" to begin. "Tweeeeet"----GAME ON
It's pretty clear Ives thinks we need a forward, but let's draft one good one or none at all. A bunch of mediocre prospects (Schilawski, Cristman) don't add up at one good one. If you pick a fw in the late first or 2nd or 3rd rounds, you're either looking for a specialist in some form (not likely goalscoring) or you're hoping he turns into something no one else expects, i.e., a longshot.
It will be interesting to see if they can bundle their two first round picks to move up===or maybe even a trade. After how well the Revs did in their early pick the last two years it will be interesting to see of they can get lightening to strike again.
Unfortunately I think it will take more than just our two first rounders to get into the top 5 picks. That being said, I don't think this is a particularly good draft class and I think I'd rather have two first round picks and possibly hit on 1/2 instead of having 1 pick and striking out all together.
A nice video about SKC's reliance on the draft, and a little shout-out to the Revs in there too (but that doesn't seem to fit as well with the theme of the video).
Yes. We're not going to be able to get far enough up to get a sure thing (and the draft looks top heavy in centerbacks anyway) and the other factor is that we actually don't have a lot of open spots in the starting lineup (there will already be pretty intense competition for playing time in the defense and the midfield). I'd rather cherry-pick guys who slip, than target a specific player or position in this draft. I can understand that. US college players from the big footballing countries are generally here because they didn't make it in the youth systems back home, so getting that degree is pretty important. While I'm sure many would love a pro soccer career, they probably didn't come to college here to aspire to MLS wages.
I don't neccessarily think that's it, from what I've read it sounds like MLS and/or Adidas are getting a lot stingier on the GA deals. The money definitely isn't as good as it once was, especially if you're not one of their top three or four GA targets.
I don't want to derail the thread, but I think Don Garber and the league owners, in general, are delusional about salary. They think they can grow this league without much investment in player wages, but they're living on another planet. As college players get better and as youth players get better, they're going to have better ($$$) options than MLS. It's a free global market, and MLS will have to pay near global market prices.
Whole-heartedly agree and it's one of the many reasons why there will be strike at the end of next season.
Wrote about five players that the Revs should be interested in. Let me know what you think. http://www.total-mls.com/new-englan...or-the-revs-ahead-of-the-2014-superdraft.html

I don't know follow college soccer, so I enjoyed the writeup. I really like learning about the prospects that could help the Revs. That first sentence is baffling though. The draft has been one of Jay's strongest attributes so far. We've pulled 2 high end starters from the 1st round in successive years, who cares if the guys from the supplemental draft don't stick? We've gotten more from the draft than damn near any team in the league the last few years.
I can't draw any conclusions about Heaps' draft acumen - 1) sample size is too small, 2) we've sucked, and had an advantageous draft position and 3) two of our picks (Soffner and Polak) were IMO long term plays and their grades must be judged "incomplete". Obviously on the plus side of the ledger, Farrell and Rowe are keepers. I'm interested to see how we do picking in the middle of the pack.
I don't disagree, but I don't really agree either. I'll just cite the post from @BrianLBI above as to why we can't really evaluate Heaps's drafting accumen at this point.
