I'd rather play PJY and qualify than play an up and coming, have them choke, and sit out 2014.

Play our captain. He's been awesome for us in the past few games.

I think PCY will be given a chance or two by other European clubs before Korea. If Seol was given plenty of chances, so will PCY.

He's not even that good against Asian opposition ... 2007 AC being a prime example. He didn't even score a single goal in 2010 qualifications. To be fair he hardly got a game but his CV against Asian opposition isn't that hot either.

    Not impressed.

Plus I just don't like his character. He tends to drink his problems away like some old taxi ahjussi who constantly moans about how his parents didn't have enough money to send him to university.

I would excuse him from 2007. He wasn't on form during that time. I think those were the Middlesbrough years and his injuries if my memory recalls correctly.

He's not our captain. Kwak Tae Hwi is.

Oddly Gareth Southgate was incredibly patient with him. Maybe PCY is receiving all the negative karma. :D

His highlight at Boro' IMO was when he in all respects was robbed of a penalty against Man United at Old Trafford. John O Shea clearly took him down in the box late in the match and Boro could have won the game which could have changed the title race (maybe).

Something awful has to happen for PCY to sit out WC14. He'll be there otherwise. And he'll be vital for us through the qualification given he keeps scoring as he has. He is no longer the captain by the way.

Also I like the kids to be given a proper chance at WC14. They still got two more years to develop and experience.

Their names are Ji Dong Won and Son Heung Min. Not Lee Dong Gook. ;)

They need to prove that they deserve a proper chance. Both of them have what? 2 goals each this season? That isn't going to cut it. Just because they're playing in Europe should not be the only reason for getting a chance.

You're right. Obviously, they do need to prove themselves to be worthy and I'm hopeful that they will. I just don't wanna see "seniors" and "experienced" getting all the chances while the kids lose out on what could be invaluable experience for them - again, given that they develop and prove themselves.

the best young korean player is Ki and has been since like 2008. people might not like his attitude and antics or his pretty boy image but he is a piece that can bring us up a new level. im not paying attention to JDW and SHM they arent in the picture at the moment.

and some people may hate LDG but seriously i dont get it. hes the best korean striker behind PJY.

What I'm hoping is that the 2012 Olympics turns out to be a great success with the nucleus of that squad graduating to the NT.

With this mindset, every world cup you're going to be screaming for new players. If those two you mention don't pan out in 2014, you're going to say F*** them for 2018 and scream for new younger up and coming players. Do you see the cycle? There should be no stigma attached to experienced and seniors. Every squad needs some of them in order to be successful.

This is the absolutely correct response.

LDG committed the sin of not being Miroslav Klose with his 14 WC goals.

just because you and some others have an absolute hardon for the guy doesn't mean everyone else has to go along for the ride. this place would be a super boring place without disagreement. Its not like LDG came outta nowhere with this prissy rep and started taking heads. He's been in and out of the NT for over a decade now with relatively crappy results. Even Sky who was probably his biggest proponent on this board threw his hands up at some point.

theres always going to be dissension in the ranks when you have purgatory players like this.

quit complaining about it. its not going to change unless something DRASTIC happens.

I guess we just want "more". The thing about LDG is that he's a loser. He's got sad stories that he's failed to overcome. PCY is at the border on this as well. You look at PCY's career in general and it's mostly him not quite becoming what everyone hoped. He's been generally disappointing except for a few occasions. Just look at the mess at his forum.

We want a champion. Like PJS - he overcame when odds were against him. Ki could be that. He's already overcome his bad spell at Celtic. We'll wait and see how he does at a new club come next season.

I think only a couple hold grudges.
Others have a justified reason for not wanting to see LDG on the KNT. For one, he will be 35 in 2014WC.

Well that's because PJY was overhyped.
PJS and PJY have both had bad years. KSY has had one too and he's only 22/23. LDG was also overhyped and was EXTREMELY unlucky in various stages of his career. THus Koreans, being the internet warriors we are, tend to nail him to an e-cross.

Well, going out on a bender during a tournament didn't help his cause.

i guess you guys just dont see how people change. yes LDG had a not so successful time in his euro stint but he didnt give up and got his form back and now hes the best he has ever been. some people just develop/mature much later than others.

That's fine. LDG gives me the headaches as well. But my argument is that there aren't better options. Park Ju Young and who else should start? Maybe Wook but you can't say Wook is a better option than LDG at this point.

Korea has lack of strikers right now. This isn't news. LDG is only playing because there's no depth.

I'm all for shitting on LDG. But there aren't better options there right now. Hopefully in 2014 this will be different.
