I just hope Iran and Korea make it to the WC by smashing all the teams in this group.

2010 WCQ took a couple of years off my life. I'd rather the Iran/Korea matches be just formalities.

WE MUST FORGET THIS LOSS AND GET READY FOR IRAN, AUTUORI

DOHA: Qatar football coach Paulo Autuori has urged his side to forget
the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Korea and get ready for next 2014
FIFA World Cup qualifier against Iran.

On Friday, Korea crushed Qatar 4-1 in their Asian Zone, Group A clash
    at Al Sadd Stadium.

"First of all congratulations to Korea. I would like to say to my
players to forget this match and focus on Iran and continue to work
    hard,' Autuori said.

"In football you can be winner and you can lose. Lawrence (Quaye)
suffered an injury that put us back. He is a very important player for
    us," the Brazilian added.

"Now I am thinking only about the next match. We didn't play well in
the second half. We made a mistake in the second goal (scored by
Korea). That put us down mentally," he said.

"And I congratulate Koreans once again. This is normal. We played good
short games. But we suffer from playing three matches in short time.
We were very well organised in the first half. We did a good job in
    the first half.

Autuori said Qatar has the capability to stage a fight back in the next tie.

"This is the price we must pay for playing too much of football in a
short period of time. But we can still) do a good job. We have to
show that we are mentally strong after this defeat. We have lost three
    points," he said.

"We need to understand that we are moving up, we are improving. So now
we have to really learn from our mistakes. We need to take care. We
cannot be afraid. We need to fight. This is a big challenge for us.

The Qatar coach refused lay blame on anyone for the loss.

"This is my responsibility. My job is to keep my players mentally
fresh. I will not allow my players to go down (mentally). The heat was
not the problem for us. We just played five days ago in similar
circumstances. I don't like excuses," he said at a press conference.

"I just want to tell my players that you played a good first half and
that you made mistakes in the second. I can only talk about my
players. I don't want to talk about (the problems of) my opponents.
They (the Koreans) are a strong side. They are physically a strong
side. They scored off two corner kicks. We made mistakes on those
corner kicks. But there are positives. We played some good football,"
    Autuori said.

Qatari defender Quaye said: "We didn't play bad in the first half but
in the second half we seemed to have changed tactics. They attacked
from the right side a lot more than the first half. But this is
football. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose."

"we must forget this loss and buy a new set of defenders and a new goali"
    Autuori

lol that's only half joking. Burhan looked lost in every goal. I've never seen a keeper be out of place so many times (not just talking about today's game). That fat Lebanese keeper is head and shoulders above burhan.

If you're going to buy players, buy proper ones, not rejects from African backwaters.

I don't see how Qatar can accomplish anything in Azadi. Iran might fuuu up in UAE and Qatar and tie matches, but not in Azadi. Qatar thinks that the last few tied matches with Iran are gonna be a long-term trend. Keep thinking that come Tuesday and another 6-0 trashing will be in the making.

irans win against bahrain 6-0 isnt a good comparison. bahrain came to the match from turmoil. bahrain is even more experienced than qatar but they started the qualification very badly because of other reasons. bahrain dug its own grave. without this turmoil the bahraini team couldve made it to this stage because it was a good team. so i think the 6-0 is one time and only one time nomatter which opponent from the gulf youll meet.

something wrong happened in korea qatar game. the defense was too open and this isnt like qatar. qatar isnt a top asian team but nobody expected 4 goals from korea. inshallah thisll be corrected against iran and i believe we needed a lesson to learn from. this game will set us straight i hope.

but losing is a shame because it puts more pressure on us. maybe this is what we needed in order to turn things around

I didn't expect us to thrash the Qatari side at their home soil, especially with lots of distractions off the pitch. What a great way to start off the qualification campaign. Kudos to our coaches and players. They were well-prepared and displayed why we are the most successful team in WCQ in Asia.

bahrains population is even lower than qatar. perhaps if you dont count foreigners in qatar it is about the same. yet bahrain plays good considering its population and uses bahraini players, while qatar buys players and is not better than bahrain (until now).

Qatar is only going to get better due to their money money money. I can see them fielding a strong squad by 2022.

I don't see it. Mercenaries will NEVER give 110%, NEVER.
No matter who they get, these players won't sacrifice their health nor will they put their life on hold for the success of the national team. They are here for one reason and that's to make money and live in Qatar. Also, there is no bond between them.

Look at Lebanon. Why did they beat Korea? Because they were good? Nope. They defeated Korea because they played for their country and their people and gave everything they had. You can see the hunger in the Lebanese players. Most of them though are comparable to Bigsoccer posters in terms of their physique, athleticism and professionalism. Their keeper is AT LEAST 25 pounds over weight!

Edit By Tex: Keep it on track.

I agree Qatar is lacking a football culture but I really doubt they will sit idly and field a crap team in 2022. Naturalizing Brazilians, Uruguayans, Nigerians, etc is not far off. I mean, they got Barcelona to sell their souls by putting "Qatar Foundation" as their shirt sponsors so they'll do what it takes to succeed.

Qatar deported one of Iran's assistant coaches lol

He went to Qatar to analyze the Korea-Qatar game, but he wasn't allowed to enter the country and was sent back. These people man loool
They turn off the A/C in the stadium so Korean players get a heat stroke and now they deport our assistant coach so he can't do his job! This is on top of all the other stuff that they get away with. And for what? To lose 4-1 at home?

Deported or not, there was no need to analyze them. South Korea did the job for us. Qatar is now tired. IRAN NEEDS TO SCORE EARLY ON TUESDAY. If we do I don't see how Qatar can come back if we continue attacking.

As of right now the forecast in Tehran for Tuesday is 88 degrees Fahrenheit with showers.

For demoralizing and fatiguing the Qatari Team, I demand the Iranian members of BigSoccer to provide me a lifetime supply of koobideh, saffron rice, and ghormeh sabzi for our services.

you're selling yourself short. Why koobideh when you can have this?

Since we're on this subject I have to ask you about a Korean food I had once. One of my Iranian 'friends' offered me some of his food once, which he had made, and he said it's a Korean dish called "bogoogi (sp?)." It was a weird mushroom with gravy on top. The mushroom was ********ing awesome. Whenever I go to a Chinese grocery store I have my eyes open but I can't differentiate b/in all these mushrooms. Any idea what food I'm talking about and what the mushroom is?

For Iran to pull out another 3 pts from the tired Qatari side,

JUST KEEP ATTACK THEM!!! It is just as simple as that. Even if Iran would score early, do not sit back. Complacency always gives your opponent room to breathe and time to regroup.

If Qatar goes, Iran is essentially secured the number 2 spot. Given the unpredictability in South America for the last spot for them, I think that direct qualification is the only way we can guarantee a spot in Brazil. I didn't get to watch the match...but I hope the Qataris are demolarized rather than vengeful. We dominated Qatar in the previous round but we never put away our chances.

the best scenario for Iran is if korea win all their matches, and for UZB, qatar, and Leb to take points from each other. This way, we have a safety net. the worst case scenario is if the teams are all bunched together in terms of points. let korea run away with it. we have had one great result against the third seeded team in the group. we have qatar coming up, and then lebanon. we could have 9 points after 3 games. Uzb drawing today was a great result for us. i can seen them causing trouble for qatar and korea.
