Metro built the MetroTrolley linking a stadium complex with Downtown with the Med Centet in between and very little residential with reasonable access to it. They then shifted bus routes around to force folks to board the demolition train to go the last mile to their destination. It did NOTHING to eliminate traffic or more efficiently move people. The damn thing is a bigger hassle to take than to just bypass and drive.
It will get me to the Flying Saucer faster for my post game pint. But I get it, at that point it’s still nothing more than a drunk mans toy train.
Actually, looking at the schedule, I like the way it is laid out for the Dynamo (other than odd July and October). They only play TOR, NYRB, and PHI away twicein the East , and for the WEST have RSL, POR, LAG, DAL at home and SEA, CHIV, SJ, COL, VAN away.
Anyone know anything about this? http://www.houstonhurricanesfc.com/houston-hurricanes-vs-houston-dynamo/
The Dynamo Academy team won, 3-1. I saw it reported on the Hurricanes facebook page but there were no details on the game. They almost always refer to the opponent as the "Dynamo" no matter what level of the team they are playing. They have a hilarious promo video promoting the game that certainly implies that they were going to play the first team.
It's never too early to get the youngsters ready for local train crashes. This is part of Metro's new youth train conductor program: http://www.khou.com/news/local/Car-...ark-Train-no-injuries-reported-241101041.html

Not sure if anyone discussed this but in this years season tickets. It included all 17 home games, 1 charity and 2 TBA. Do y'all think they would include playoffs or will they fill those two in with international friendlies
I doubt they can get 3 international friendlies. My guess is 1 open cup and 1 playoff. They may be able to get an extra friendly during the World Cup break with a team from another league that is on a short break.
I doubt a playoff ticket is included. My guess is 17 home games + 1 Open Cup + 1 Bigger name friendly that is worth two tickets. OR 17 home games + 1 Open Cup + 2 Dash games
really? Wouldn't bother me. I don't know if you noticed but the season ticket package on the website does not reference "20 games" any longer. http://www.houstondynamo.com/tickets/season-tickets
They are open to the public unless they state closed-then that means only Nigel, Brahma, Ponce and the rest of us are allowed in
I really hope for the Dynamo-Red Bulls match to be sold out on the 4th of July. There's been history that the Dynamo hosted and played a game on a holiday (Easter/Good Friday weekend, Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day, Cinco De Mayo, Halloween, and Thanksgiving Eve). It's like they're the only pro sports team in Houston to have a home game on a special holiday. While the majority in Houston are still waiting for the Rockets to have a Christmas NBA game at Toyota Center and the Texans to have NBC's Thanksgiving NFL game at Reliant Stadium.
The Dynamo attendance has usually been awful on or near holidays. We'll see what happens but our history is not good. The Texans did play on Christmas Eve at least once. They beat the Colts. As far as Thanksgiving, only Detroit and Dallas host on Thanksgiving every year. The third game is recent addition and the host is supposed to rotate so it might be a while before Houston gets to host that. Most NFL teams have never hosted a game on Thanksgiving. People are really waiting for a Rockets' game on Christmas? OK.
I remember reading once that Texas sports teams don't usually have holiday games because Texans have lots of other things they like to do during holidays. This in particular applies to summer holidays like Independence Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day, when Texans are outdoors having fun. In the north it's a tradition to take in a ball game on those holidays. Here we are more inclined to do family activities, like fishing, boating, or having a barbecue.
Having grown up in the north, that is in no way true. The level of boating, fishing, family reunions, and grilling is no different here than up there in the summer. In fact, people may do it more up north because they are closed in during the winter. Let's remember, the three teams that play on holidays every year; Dallas, Detroit and LA Lakers (North, South, and West).
I agree. I'm from the West, and people are a bit more outdoor in almost every season, because there is just way more public land, lakes, reservoirs, and places to ride dirt bikes, shoot, ski, ice fish, fly fish, hunt etc. Plus the weather in the summer is way more comfortable in the West, and North.
