Should we have a designated away game we all "try" to attend to? Sort of like the Texans fans do? I love that idea is anybody willing to do this? Suggestions? It could be our BigSoccer / SG's away "home" game - we have plenty of time to sign up.
Our worst road trip is in late May and early June. Sat, May 17 - LA Galaxy Weds, May 21 - @DC United Sun, May 25 - @ San Jose Sun, June 1 - @ Colorado Fri, June 6 - Kansas City Even that isn't terrible compared to some years past. The overall league schedule is pretty well distributed. There are at least 9 league games every week except 2 early in the season and then a mini-week in June just before the World Cup. League breakdown by day of the week: Saturday - 203 games Sunday - 55 games Tuesday - 1 game Wednesday - 36 games Thursday - 3 games Friday - 25 games This is what playing through the International Breaks other than the Group Stage of the World Cup gets you. 80% of the games are on Saturday or Sunday.
20 years on from USA'94 and our soccer culture is only going to get older and in a word more savvy. Playing midweek fixtures with some fear that folks that love their club somehow won't turn up in masse like they would for a Saturday or Sunday, all this will be gone soon. Weekend fixtures are where it is at as far as ease of getting to the game any time of the day (for most folks, recall the working poor who actually have a alternating work schedule). Weekend fixtures are also obviously where the sport has tradiotionally had their first tier division play but look at the lower leagues from nations around the planet and a Tuesday night match is part of the lay of the land and people always go to back their club. The respect for international dates is for all the players really. For the ones that are called up they are not letting their own club down by being "out of town" for a big league clash and for the entire rest of the team...the players that are not called up get a most likely needed break themselves as soccer seasons are the longest in the sporting landscape.

Our 2nd game is against Montreal. I'll have to check to see how many of their guys will still be suspended for that game.
MLS is taking a break for the Group Stage of the World Cup (mostly) but here are the later conflicts. Wednesday, June 11 - 3 MLS matches June 12-26 - WC Group Stage Wednesday, June 25 - 1 MLS match (VAN v. MON) Thursday, June 26 - WC Group Stage Friday, June 27 - 2 MLS matches Saturday, June 28 - WC Round of 16 & 5 MLS matches Sunday, June 29 - WC Round of 16 & 1 MLS match (MON v. HOU) Monday, June 30 - WC Round of 16 Tuesday, July 1 - WC Round of 16 Wednesday, July 2 - 2 MLS matches Friday, July 4 - WC Quarterfinals & 5 MLS matches (inc. HOU v. NYR) Saturday, July 5 - WC Quarterfinals & 3 MLS matches Sunday, July 6 - 1 MLS match Tuesday, July 8 - WC Semifinals Wednesday, July 9 - WC Semifinals Friday, July 11 - 1 MLS match Saturday, July 12 - 7 MLS matches (inc. TFC v. HOU) Sunday, July 13 - WC Final & 1 MLS match (SEA v. POR) The World Cup games are generally earlier in the day than the MLS matches.
We have four games in July but only two opponents. We play New York twice and Toronto twice, each home and away.
Are there any games that conflict or may be on the same day with the Astros and the Rockets? Also, what if the 2014 NFL schedule, which I think comes out next April, and purposely put some Texans games at the same time with Dynamo games?
The Dynamo have these home games on the same day as the Astros. They have not announced times for Astros games. Saturday, April 5 Dynamo v. FC Dallas TBA Sunday, April 7 Dynamo v. Portland 2:00 pm Saturday, May 17 Dynamo v. LA Galaxy 7:30 pm Sunday, August 3 Dynamo v. DC United 7:00 pm That FC Dallas game will probably get a time that doesn't conflict. Probably we'll be playing in the afternoon. The Portland and LA games will probably conflict. That should be interesting. The DC game should be well after the Astros' game which usually starts at noon on Sunday. The Dynamo have no games on the same day as a Rockets regular season game in the Spring. Playoffs? Who knows. As far as the Texans? The NFL is not going to purposely put games at the same time as the Dynamo. They will just do their schedule ignoring the Dynamo. We have two possible regular season Sunday games that might conflict. If they have a Thursday game that might also conflict. That would be quite a coincidence. Sunday, September 28 Dynamo v. Chicago 2:00 pm Sunday, October 12 Dynamo v. DC United 2:00 pm Thursday, October 16 Dynamo v. New England 7:00 pm
Here is an early preseason MLS schedule: http://www.socceramerica.com/article/55563/2014-mls-preseason-schedule.html The Dynamo games: Wednesday, February 5 Portland v. Not sure where this goes but the U-15s are playing i Caymans http://www.compasscayman.com/caycompass/2014/01/10/Swindon-Town-and-Houston-Dynamo-set-for- action-here/
Apparently the Dynamo scheduled games at the same time as the Astros 3 times this year, so no Lot B-C parking for those games. That's uh . . . Not real smart, especially for the Galaxy game
