This is interesting, as I've never heard that MD stays clear of Akron for Non-con games.. I know they play in the spring now and again... I'd love to see UMD play both UVA and Akron - each season... Those would be great Non-con games...
There are only 4 entries with their entire College Cup in tact. UCLA, and to a lesser extent Georgetown, were the primary culprits
UVA = Quite the surprise this late in the season... Can they get all the way through? - Can 3 of the 4 Finalists be ACC?

Yeah. It will be short-lived as my champion has exited. Damned UCLA! Such monumental underachievers! I am now rooting for New Mexico Lobos. Mos Def!
Not for the three or four of us who picked them to go to the Final Four! Can they? Yes. Will they? They should make the Final Four since they are the seeded team playing at home against an unseeded team. However, I have a sneaky feeling about UConn. This is their third straight quarterfinal appearance and they advanced in their past two games on PKs. Something about that is telling me they're a team that has somehow figured out how to survive and advance. Again, can they? Yes. On the women's side this year 3 of the Final Four teams are from the ACC. And in 2009 Virginia, Wake and North Carolina all made it on the men's side. Notre Dame should advance as they're playing at home against a team they beat 2-0 away earlier this year. Again, Virginia should advance because they're playing at home against an unseeded team. (Though I've already covered why I think UConn is worrisome for Cavs fans.) And if Maryland has improved more than Cal has since they lost to them on OT in September, and most observers think they have, than Maryland should advance, too. But there's a huge difference between should and will!
I still have all my Final Four teams alive which, for me, is a miracle this late in the tournament. If I get most of the Final Four teams picked correctly, regardless of where I finish in the standings, I'll consider this pool a success.
You and me both. I predict that I will be falling in the standings like a lead balloon starting next round. Better than last year though, when I quickly found my way toward the bottom and wasn't even checking standings by this point.
I wonder if losing to UConn would affect the chances that Allen and Madison return to school next fall. As Joe and you have probably mentioned previously, Virginia is good now but could really dominate in 2014.
I will be stunned if they don't lose any underclassmen this winter and the more they win this month the more they will likely lose. But I suppose there's a chance that coming close and not winning it all will spur them all to come back, but I dount it. Whether that means it's Madison and Allen who leave or some of the other underclassmen remains to be seen (obviously).
Yeah, Joe, the other two who picked UVa and myself are pretty smug right now. (Who were the other two?) Of course, we'll see how smug we are after tonight! I have Maryland, Washington and Notre Dame and thanks to only getting 4 quarterfinalists correct, I need all of them to make it just to get close. I don't think I have a chance to win as the people who are ahead of me, even with the UVa points, also picked the same team - Maryland - to win it all.
Me! I was actually going to update the standings this morning to reflect this, since I now have only Maryland left to win me points and I wanted to see myself a little higher up the table. mdc00 is the other one who selected UVA to make it to Chester.
Continuing my lead ballon descent with each passing game. I need Notre Dame and New Mexico to win to have anyone left.
Update through the quarterfinals. Bolded entries are those that can still win. I've listed who can still receive points and how so we can gauge how far up the table each of us might get. Holy crap! So, apparently my led balloon isn't as heavy as almost everyone else's. I thought my late round picks outside ND were bad, but looks like lots of others had bad picks too (my new mexico pick was lucky and based almost entirely on commentary on this site). While I can't win, I'm happy not to be near the bottom with UCLA and Cal flaming out on me.
If it wasn't for unnamedsource, we could have had a situation where only one person picks the champion correctly and still didn't win the pool. That would have been quite the rarity!
