This is actually a good thing. It wasn't too long ago (some of you are too young to even know), that our U-20 did not have any players from our first division, or with any international experience. A lot of these guys have parcicipated in Copa Libertadores and La Sudamericana, and have a feel for what it is like to play at a higher level. I think we are going to do well, but it will not be enough. Even though we seem to have made some strides, we are still way behind the other countries, except maybe for Peru and Venezuela.

damn, idk why that kid that plays in Milan's U-19 team wasn't called... I get he's 16 but if he manages to play as a starter with 18 year olds, I don't see why he can't play with 19 year olds... they left out at least 3 players that play abroad plus Baldivieso.... that's BS!

Not sure if any of you remember, earlier in the year it was said that Azkargorta was going to be the head coach of this team, he was going to control every aspect, as well as go to Argentina with them. What happened to change this, all of the sudden, some one else is the head coach and it seems to me Azkargorta has washed his hands of the whole thing. I understand he is more occupied with the National team, but still now we go into this tourney yet again with minimal preparation. The only saving grace is that there seems to be more talent than usual. Hope that leads to something, making a U20 world cup would do wonders for our kids, and it would be a step towards a better system for the future.

It's not that Azkargorta as you say, "has washed his hands", he is still very much in charge of every aspect of this team. But because he has his hands full with the senior squad, Barrero, one of his coaching staff assistants was specifically assigned to the role.
After all, the whole point of the youth teams specially the U-20 is to build players for the senior squad.
Azkargorta knows this better than anyone.

I meant the statement about us being behind in terms of player development in general, Sherlock. Not number of players with international experience.

I understand what you are saying, That still Not as good as being there. Nothing is the same as being on the sidelines when the game gets tough. The confidence that he can communicate to his players with his vast experience is immeasurable. As a player you would much rather have him than the other guy, so when you go into a training camp thinking you are going to be working with Azkargorta, and you get Barrerro its a let down. Im hoping Barrerro can push the right buttons and make the right changes when things get hairy.

In my opinion, I would name these:

    Miguel Suarez (capitan)
    Pedro Azogue (capitan)
    Ricardo Vaca
    Alex Pontons

they're older now, they can't play the U-20 even if they wanted to.
    They're all 20 already.

It's more than that. They have no money, and since losing la liga, with Directv cutting their HD feed off, little by little they're dying. Soon I am sure, they'll lose BUndesliga and will have to go bankrupt.

BeIN is funded by arab money, and bought out la liga with pure cash over GOL. They probably did the same with U20's. They're the first channel to buy the rights outright to South American qualifiers.... they're making moves with pure oil money.

    Thanks for the info.

Now some bad news. As reported by every newspaper of Bolivia, Miguel Suarez one of our captains, was announced out of the Bolivia squad officially due to a knee injury that he had been hoping to heal, but just couldn't make it. Suarez and also Hugo Sagardia, another Bolivar player were announced out of the squad.
It's a real shame to lose Suarez considering he is one of the most talented players of our U-20, was one of the captains, not to mention all his club and senior NT experience. It's a shame.
Now all the hope rests on the players we have that play in el exterior along with Pedro Azogue and others with club experience.
The final 22 men list will be officially announced tomorrow.
