Yes, but all indications seem to be that you'll be able to hang out with Freddy there on game day. So it has that going for it, at least.
Is anyone else expecting Freddy to pull a Ronaldo this year (eat nonstop, blow up like a tick and eventually get caught with three tranny hookers)?
Is there a way to subscribe to the Union schedule through the calendar on my iPhone and/or through Outlook?
You can import the calendar - but you knew that. On Google Calendar, it does have an option to subscribe to calendars. Try: Go to Google Calendar From the Drop Down next to Other Calendars, select Browse Interesting Calendars It starts on Holidays, select Sports Select Soccer Select MLS and then subscribe to Philadelphia. It does not seem to have 2013 yet. But if you subscribe you should get it. From there, I am not sure how you get Google Calendar on an iPhone.
You'll be surprised to hear that the Union site was useless for this task (at least it was in the days right after the schedule was announced). But I managed to upload an iCal version to my iPhone via the MLS website (appropriate "the"). And the Google Calendar subscriptions are good as well.
Great, thanks. I'll have to tinker with that and see if I can get it on my phone. Each individual date has a red plus sign where you can add that date/event to your calendar. Is there a way to do it in one fell swoop instead of piecemeal? -EDIT- Then there's always this. http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/2012-schedule-download
That's how the Union site was when I checked it. From your home computer or laptop: Go to MLSSoccer.com. Schedule, scroll down to Schedule: Download, check the box next to the Union, below that, click "Mobile", choose your mobile device, have it sent and go from there. It was pretty painless with iCal. Syncing Google Calendars with your iCal can be clunky depending how your accounts are set up on your phone. I'd try this option first.
It's strange. I downloaded the full MLS calendar and the Union calendar to my Google Calendar on my computer, but it doesn't show up on my GalaxyS3 which also runs Google Calendar under the same account. When I tried to download the MLS calendar to Google Calendar on my phone itself, it was giving me a hard time. I think I broke the calendar. Or something.
Pretty judgy for a guy who paints his face and wears Luchedor masks. I tried that the day after the schedule was announced, assuming the Union's incredible website might have overlooked the "2012." But no. It sent me the 2012 schedule.
Don't fret, it is in fact the 2013 schedule now. I ended up doing the QR code option from the league's site. All is right with the world.
I imported the calendar into Outlook and now have it on my iPhone and iPad in its own special calendar.
I'm not a beer geek but . . . in PA, beer is sold mainly in two ways: by the case from a "beer distributor" or from a bar or corner store in singles or six packs. You can't buy beer at a liquor store. For a distributor, the closest probably is Society Hill Beverage: http://societyhillbeverage.com. The closest beer geek stores with wide selections probably would be Beer Heaven (http://societyhillbeverage.com/pages/beerHeaven.html) or the two locations of The Foodery (http://www.fooderybeer.com/).
Or if you drive over to Jersey you can get a 6- or 12-pack pretty easily at any of the liquor stores right across the Ben Franklin Bridge.
If you keep going past the liquor store there's an industrial park that's a great place to stash a car if you're carpooling.
Just spent 1/2 hr trying to download the schedule on my PC and IPhone and was unsuccesful. Anyone else have similar problems? If not can you give me any tips? Seems on the PC the pop-up does not pop up even though pop-up blocker is turned off. On the Iphone it won't let me go to the main site and keeps on going to the mobile one. There the pop up does pop up but it won't let me make it smaller, and only half is visible... Here is the download page: http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/2013-schedule-download Looks to me as if the whole thing was not properly tested.
Had no problem downloading the iCal version on my Mac (which then pushes to my iOS devices). Maybe you just need a new computer...
Just saw the Union tweet, again, about waiving the ticket fees for the 3/2 game. Ugh, 15 days out from the home opener, and they're already having to throw gimmicks to sell seats. Let's hope they can get out of the gate winning, or it's going to be a long, lonely season for most of STH's holding down the fort.
