Is Rowe going to graduate from GA?

Nope. Homegrown players sign Generation Adidas contracts.

    Put Caldwell in slot #25.

Home grown players CAN sign GA contracts, but I don't think it is required. The fact that he completed his senior year of college might make him inelligble for GA.

Is there anyway we can get a sticky roster thread like we've had before?

Done. I'll set this one as a sticky for now, will see if it's worth it to have a closed roster thread like last year.

I added Caldwell & Goncalves to Mike Marshall's original list above. That leaves us two spots at #19 & #20 plus the college draft. I like the addition of Goncalves and combined with what little I have seen of Cisse, I think we have potentially shored up some of the defensive lapses in the center of the pitch.

1)What needs still need to be addressed at 19&20 and who will fill them? Cast aways from other teams like Nguyen last season perhaps?

    2) With the addition of Goncalves, who will the Rev's look to draft? I am thinking more depth at forward and the back 4.

Unless they do something un-Revslike and sign a name player during the transfer window my guess is they line up a handful of trialist like they did last year and sign 1 or 2 of them.(sene&lechner)
As for the draft I still say they will draft the best available players. If they fill a need the that is a plus. I'd like to see them draft a forward and defender but if the best players available are mids it would not surprise me the go that route

I put this in another thread, but it probably pertains more to this one:

So let's assume Dorman and Cisse make a couple hundred thousand dollars, and they have say $800K of salary cap space, and two open senior rosters posts, one being international. In theory (lol I know it's the Revs), they should be able to significantly improve this team. Even if one of those guys is Hunter Freeman, then they could legitimately go out and get a DP international attacker and have no salary cap or roster issues. Who that is, and will they do it, I have no clue.

From what little of seen of Cisse, it seems he's very good at turning an attack against us into a run of play in their direction. He can intercept the ball, calmly give it a touch or two, then make a beautiful attack minded pass towards the opposing end.

There should be a good defender or a forward when we pick at #4

I'll update this later, but using some guess work, if they bring in Barrett and Freeman, I think they could be left with one open roster spot and something like $350,000-$400,000 in cap space left.

    Just a guess.

Those two were at 250 (Barrett) and 110 (Freeman) last year ... I'm going to be furious if they're signed for anything close to that. Especially Barrett. Maybe 200k-225k, combined.

FWIW, I think I figured Barrett at $125,000 and Freeman at $75,000.

Barrett would be a good signing if the job description did not include shooting on goal ;)

Chad Barret should be the leading scorer in MLS History..He should have more goals in a season than Archie Stark with all the sitters he's missed over the years!! LOL

...Watch him win the Golden Boot with the Revs!!

I can't stand him because he is useless. I don't think he has offended me in any other way than his putrid play on the field.

I know we are just joking around with Barrett's terrible finishing around the goal, but the rest of his play is not very good either. He is basically a fast forward who is effective on counters and good in direct systems. Sure, maybe he could come in here to steal a goal in a game where possession isn't going the Revs way (but he has to finish), or he can help kill off a game with his speed and keeping a team "honest". But that is loser mentality football. I guess he would be ok as a squad option for those reasons alone. He is better than Brettschneider after all, but he is literally shit. I don't see what he would ever provide here for a team with any ambition of making the playoffs. He sucks.

I believe the players below were on the roster at the end of the 2011 season. Wholesale changes with only 10 players returning from a year ago.
    1. Soares
    2. Alston
    3. Fagundez
    4. Guy
    5. McCarthy
    6. Tierney
    7. Nyassi
    8. Barnes
    9. Shuttleworth
    10. Reis
    1. Joseph (gone)
    2. Feilhaber (gone)
    3. Caraglio (gone)
    4. Boggs (gone)
    5. Lekic (gone)
    6. Schilawski (gone)
    7. Mansally (gone)
    8. Phelan (gone)
    9. Zerka (gone)
    10. Dube (gone)
    11. Coria (gone)
    12. Cochrane (gone)
    13. Koger (gone)
    14. Kinne (gone)
    15. Sousa (gone)
    16. Murray (gone)
    17. Loewy (gone)
    Here is where stand today:

    1. BENGTSON, Jerry
    2. TOJA, Juan
    3. ALSTON, Kevin
    4. REIS, Matt
    5. SENE, Saer
    6. SOARES, AJ
    7. NYASSI, Sainey
    8. MCCARTHY, Stephen
    9. IMBONGO, Dmitry
    10. SIMMS, Clyde
    11. TIERNEY, Chris
    12. BARNES, Darrius
    13. NGUYEN, Lee
    14. GUY, Ryan
    15. SHUTTLEWORTH, Bobby
    16. CISSE, Kalifa -
    17. DORMAN, Andy -
    18. Goncalves, Jose -
    19.Rowe, Kelyn
    20.Polak, Tyler
    21. Fagundez, Diego
    22. Caldwell, Scott
    23. ???
    24. ???
    25. ???
    26. ???
    27. ???
    28. ???
    29. ???
    30. ???

Based upon the current players , I would like to see the REV's try this lineup in Tucson:

    Fagundez- Bengtson - Rowe
    Toja - Nguyen
    Cisse
    Alston-Goncalves - Soares - Nyassi

I love a 4-3-3 and the inverted pyramid will usually free up Cisse to make passes out of the back. Sene replaces Fagundez when he returns. Try Nyassi at right back. He carries too large a salary to sit on the bench and has speed to burn to be an overlapping fullback. Just don't know if he can defend, but, if Heaps is willing to experiment with McCarthy in the middle last season, why not try Nyassi at right back? If he doesn't pan out, then I would like to see Polak there. Barnes as another option.

I like the possibility of that lineup, too. If Cisse can play that lone position in the hole then they will be in great shape. I'm not convinced he can, but we will see. I hope he can.

BUT Nyassi at right back is not what I want to see at all. He can't defend one on one, and sucks in the tackle. And as much as I want to see Fagundez play on the wing, he will rarely start, nor should he.
