Two weeks into the MFLS season, it is time to start the RevMFLS Cup. This is the tournament for the RevMFLS division, with the winner qualifying for a spot in the Cup Winners Cup. If we can two more teams to get to 24, we can open with six groups of 4 teams. Since we are only at 22, here is the format I have come up with. Week 3: Play-in round, bottom 4 in the standings after week 2 faceoff head to head (19 vs 22, 20 vs 21). Round One (group) Weeks 4-9 20 teams divided into 5 groups of 4 teams. Each team plays the other 3 teams in the group twice, for a total of 6 matches. Top 2 teams in each group advance, plus 2 wild cards. Round Two (group) Weeks 10-12 12 teams divided into 3 groups of 4 teams. Each team plays the other 3 teams in the group once. Top 2 teams in each group advance, plus 2 wild cards. Knockout rounds Final 8, seeded into two-leg head to head match ups (1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6, 4vs5) Quarterfinals: weeks 13-14 Bye weeks 15-16 (9 MLS teams on bye each of these weeks) Semifinals: weeks 17-18 Finals: weeks 19-20
My apologies, I've been away for a few days. The draw took place last week, based on the standings after week 02. The play-in round results will be finalized tomorrow, allowing for any scoring changes today. However, neither game was close, so the chances of the results changing are slim. Week 8 results posted: RevMFLS Cup 2013, Round One With one week of matches left in round one, the race for the two wildcards is going to be big.
Week 9 results posted, Round One completed: RevMFLS Cup 2013, Round One Ten teams eliminated, 12 teams remain. The top 2 teams from each of the 5 groups advance, plus the two best third place teams. Three third-place teams finished with 9 points, so Ayden Town FC and Spamba advance, while RevSolutions are eliminated on Point Differential. Groups for the next round have been assigned: Round Two
Not that it matters much, but I looked again and the Bulimic Giraffes had just 5 points this week, not 9? Or am I reading something wrong?
The scores were as of Monday morning. There was probably a correction, but I can't access MFLS from work. I'll check when I get home tonight, and adjust accordingly. Thanks.
OK, it looks like Andres Romero's goal for MON was originally credited to Davy Arnaud. So, the six teams that played Arnaud are down 4 pts with the correction: RI Stingrays and IO Fury played to a tie, and both had him, so the score changed but result is still a draw. Scottish Lake Monsters and FC Chupacabra also played and lost 4 pts each, so net result is the same. The Joe Man Clan lost 4 pts, but still held on to win. Bulimic Giraffes, however, lost 4 pts, changing a 9-6 win into a 6-5 loss to Nashua FC. Surprisingly, the effect on the 2nd round is less than I feared. RevSolutions replaces Bulimic Giraffes as the 2nd-place team from Group C, and Nashua FC, with the win, moves up to the first seed in Group G (round 2) dropping 4 Star Cannonball to the second seed in Group G. Round 2 groups were arranged so that no team is grouped with a team they were grouped with in Round 1.

After having to start off in the play-in round, then Round 1 as the 4th seed! Wahoo! But... we're not done yet! "We're going to take this more seriously this year."
Week 10 results posted, Round Two, Match One: RevMFLS Cup 2013, Round Two Halmstad Swedes can't help but feeling "hard done by", as they post the 2nd highest score of the round, yet lose by the largest margin (19), to Internazionale Madrid, who put up an astounding score of 46. Halmstad will be looking to take out their frustrations on King Zlatan this week.
