That ship has already sailed. I'm just hoping we can pull one back at this point, but that seems unlikely. And I just got a call about payment for season tickets. The bitter irony.
This guy? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgi_Hristov_(footballer_born_1985) The hair kind of matches
I had to use the little boys room, and when I come back we trail 4-0. I think I'm going to go back in there until this game is over.
Simeon Hristov - 20 year old forward from Macedonia? http://www.soccerway.com/players/simeon-hristov/120723/
No, it's Georgi. I remember the announcers saying his name, but I thought they were talking about a guy on the Crew.
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that he had money on this game for the Crew. He's been an atrocity. I can't see any way that he makes it out of this week.
Match fixing in an MLS preseason friendly. Who'd a thunk it? Not to mention Simeon is currently playing for the mighty Hungarian club Egri FC through summer of 2014(?).
He has the tattoo sleeves to match - we have a winner. A veteran Bulgarian forward - been missing someone from that area since Paunovic retired.
I'm not worried about losses in the preseason, afterall, we beat Celtic and Everton in their preseasons. I am concerned, however, about getting clobbered in a preseason friendly.
This was hands down the worst game I have ever seen from this team. The level of play was so poor it approached comedy. Are these players professionals or are they pretenders? It's hard to tell. Players dogging it? Check. Zero creativity in midfield? Check. No possession? Check. Long balls hoofed over the top to no one but the opposing keeper? Check. Defenders caught ball watching repeatedly? Check. No one giving a damn? Check.
If only Califf was still around, we managed to land Hassli, and somehow pried Demerit from Vancouver.
http://www.soccerway.com/players/georgi-hristov/51674/ http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/georgi-hristov/profil/spieler_87053.html He has not been scoring much of late since the 2008 - 2009 season - bounced around clubs in Bulgaria, Poland and Israel. He has decent size at 6'0" - his player agency (Gradev Sports) also has another player (Guy Essame) trialing with Seattle.
With some of your objections I can quite possibly write-off as preseason form. However, these above mimic trends we have seen before in the regular season. I am not sure what is expected from this squad in terms of midfield production when management has consistently failed to inject the roster with offensive-minded players who possess the creativity, touch, vision, and skill required to have the upper hand at this level.
I agree completely. The result aside, what is most infuriating about this team under this coach is that there appears to be no strategy. The biggest problem with this team is that it cannot find goals. My question to Hack is what is the strategy to score goals this year? There is none. He puts 3 d-mids on the field and somehow expects that lineup to produce something. Also concerning (although less so) is his disastrous CB pairing, consisting of a converted reserve midfielder and a low level draft pick. Failure was pretty much a given. His only answer to find goals is to swap in Torres for a d-mid between minutes 60 and 80 when he gets desperate for some creativity. Torres is a good player but you can't expect him to save you in a half hour when you're four in the hole. Hack has apparently has learned nothing and I find that alarming at this point. As I've said before, I have no confidence in him going forward.
I missed the match, did your team sit all their starters? The announcer doing the Montreal vs. Tampa Bay game said that Columbus played their reserves half of the time, did you do likewise?
