Fixing my link to the Rapids info (I should not post right before bed): http://www.coloradorapids.com/news/2013/01/former-us-youth-internationals-romero-and-diaz-join-camp
Ives has an article on trialists but it more or less seems based on a few teams' PR releases - I copied the list below but other than some Montreal players - it looks like we already had them. On another note, I believe that Harrisburg City forward and former Chicago SuperDraft pick, Lucky Mkosana, may be trialing with Columbus - will wait for an official confirmation. http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/01...press-as-mls-training-camps-get-underway.html Non-Roster Invitees By Team COLORADO RAPIDS Jamie Smith – Midfielder Ruben Luna – Forward Luke Vercollone – Defender/Midfielder Joel Helmich – Goalkeeper Jim Mauer – Goalkeeper Clint Irwin – Goalkeeper DC UNITED Kyle Altman – Defender Neven Markovic – Defender Joseph Nane – Midfielder Demitrius Omphroy – Defender/Midfielder Diego Restrepo – Goalkeeper Ryan Richter – Midfielder/Forward Matt VanOekel – Goalkeeper MONTREAL IMPACT Ilcu Mircea – Forward Nick Zimmerman – Forward Zakaria Messoudi – Midfielder Wadrille Lefevre – Midfielder Maxim Tissot – Defender Maxime Crepeau – Goalkeeper SEATTLE SOUNDERS Travis Bowen – Forward Jose Cuevas – Forward David Opoku – Forward Manuel Asprilla – Midfielder Philip Lund – Midfielder Guy Essame – Midfielder Jonas Rasmussen – Midfielder Ross LaBauex – Midfielder Marvin Angulo – Midfielder Blair Gavin – Midfielder Justin Davis – Defender Cody Ellison – Defender Isaish Schafer – Defender Doug Herrick – Goalkeeper VANCOUVER WHITECAPS Paulo Jr. – Forward Corey Hertzog – Forward Tom Heinemann – Forward Ben Fisk – Midfielder/Forward Crispin Olando – Midfielder Dever Orgill – Forward Jacob Lensky – Midfielder Sean Melvin – Goalkeeper
Based off a tweet from Josh Gardner, his roommate during preseason right now is Sporting junior, David Leichty.

Even though the team hasn't publicly acknowledged him, can we include Alex Mendoza as one of the four Union trialists?
Mendoza was listed in the original post for Philly so he was not a mystery trialist. http://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2013/01/vwfc-add-paulo-jr-heinemann-hertzog The trials of Paulo Jr, Corey Hertzog and Tom Heinemann did not last long - Vancouver signs all of them. http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=32703 Ruben Bover Izquierdo - Spanish midfielder with Charlton Athletic - trialing with New York. http://www.dcunited.com/blog/united-notebook/2013/01/21/seven-preseason-trialists Profiles of the DCU trialists.
http://m.sportingkc.com/sites/kansascity/files/2013preseasonroster.pdf KC only has 3 non-drafted trialists in camp that we're drafted, the previously mentioned Jerome and Leichty and Steve Spangler.

So apparently MLS has forged a relationship with Rainbow Sports and they are funneling over talent from Africa (Yazid Atouba I think is represented by them, and it looks like Marius Obekop is as well). The guy that runs the whole company (and it more than just Rainbow Sports it looks like) used to be the Director of Africa Project at Wasserman Media Group (a company you should recognize as they are an agency that does lots of business with MLS).
Diego Restrepo's trial with DC is over. He'll be in another MLS team's training camp shortly. http://www.dcunited.com/news/2013/01/wednesday-training-notes

i don't have R MacKenzie ever being waived or released by Chivas USA? how is he in camp with Chicago? anybody got any source that shows he was let go by Chivas?
This actually says CHVU picked up his option for 2013: http://www.thegoatparade.com/2012/1...unces-contract-option-picked-up-by-chivas-usa http://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/2013/1/25/3915184/chicago-fire-pre-season-trialist-list-released ^ but that most definitely says it's him
Its Chivas and McKenzie has the double whammy of not being Latino and being one of Fraser's projects. Thats all we need to make sense of it.
update on Ruwshawn MacKenzie ... from the Chicago FO ... he is in their camp with Chivas USA's permission but has not been waived or traded by them officially as of now.
I vaguely recall the same sort of situation happened last year with Amadou Sanyang (was in Chicago's pre-season camp but still on Seattle's roster). Like Sanyang with Seattle, MacKenzie does not have a future with Chivas and has permission to trial around a bit. On another note, ex-Quakes forward, Sercan Guvenisik, is trailing with Columbus. sercan güvenisikVerified@SercanGuvenisik at #preseasoncamp with @columbuscrew in#Florida .
