Question about the Chivas jersey...do the replicas still show the underlying blue and white stripes in as seen in this pic? or is that something that only the authentics do? But that black one looks real nice, being a general MLS fan I dont have major hangups about wearing different teams....though I would hope the first black jersey i ever buy would be a DC United one.
^^^^ The stripes only show up on the authentics. I got 2 shirts off the players backs when i went to the match @ FCD last year
For me, the "USA" was always more annoying than the Chivas part. Plus I don't see any way Vergara drops Chivas from the name any time soon so I'll take what I can get
If they drop the "USA" it would improve things, moreso if they change the shield to represent the city they play in. I dont think anyone in the immediate fanbase will needs anything beyond the name "Chivas" to know its ties to its sister/big brother club. Guess authentic it is..thanks for the heads up...short sleeves it is.
F**k! It's going to be BLUE not BLACK. The seal is only for this season. Next year, it'll have a goat. The black kit will be a possible 3rd jersey for 2014. SIDE NOTE: Vergara and the MLS were not happy about the black. Cue and his people wanted to rebrand to LA something but soon sold out to Vergara. Garber was ok with the new colors but now his people prefer blue. What a coincedence. Addidas gave the Goats a deadline and they went with blue after Vergara bought 100% of the team. Last year, I said we would rebrand (this also meant a change in team colors). I confirmed this with a former member of the front office. DRAMA! I hate it! Even our jerseys are controversial.
Thanks for the info. As long as they are Chivas, it should be blue. Black for black's sake has plagued the NHL since the mid 90s and has infected MLB in recent years. Look at the NY Mets and NY Islanders for two of the worst offenders. Also look at the Dallas Stars; that might be the worst example in all of sports. The Stars went from a unique, iconic jersey template to a dull black high school JV look. For the love of God, keep this trend away from MLS. That said, the black Sounders kit looks excellent. But it compliment the Rave Green better than any color present thus far.
i can never get with a galaxy kit, particularly their sash. love hoops and stripes though (impact 3rd looks good!) NYRB get hate but it's very striking, one of the best in the league right up there with sounders. there's a fine line between minimalism and blandness...chivas succeeds while the rapids fail. why don't the rapids just copy an aston villa or west ham kit?
Copyright infringement comes to mind. Having your own identity is another concept. Crazy concepts, those. Which Rapids jersey are you considering bland, and why? Have you seen this year's version?
Beat me to it. I'm not sure how doing something unprecedented in American sports is bland (and yes, I know RBNY did something similar last year but it was after the Rapids announced their kit plans).

Looks too much like DCU. I don't like it when other teams introduce secondary/third kits that look similar to another teams' home kits.
So Rebano Angelino means something like rebrand to Los Angeles? This seems weird, why would a team put that there instead of just rebranding? It seems like a badge the supporters who were pro-rebranding would make as a type of protest.
Rebano means herd and Angelinos would be the people of Los Angeles, so I would assume that they're speaking in terms of a goat herd. The Angelinos Herd is just a nod to their fans and city. When you think about it, it's actually a nice touch.
