The national team will play a doubleheader in San Juan Opico January 9th. One game will be against Juve and the other against Alianza
They tied 2-2 but like I said earlier things aren't really looking good heading in. They have just slapped the team and coach together after the season ended
Good thing is noone knows what to expect from El Salvador.. can't plan against a team you never really seen before. Might get far man
Didn't Chochera have 3 playmakers in that match though? It was really weird. I think it was Sosa, Mayen, and Baires.
He did that for the game against Firpo. Should be interesting to see how he lines them up for the next set of games
I'm wondering if the first game will have the XI he will use in the tourney while the second will be for depth.
Some of his postgame comments make me think it is the other way the squad he used against Santa Tecla seemed to impress him more.
Sorry I ment to say the upcoming friendlies will the early game sport his potential starting XI like Mayen and Ruso being together etc. Also the date has been pushed to the 16th so Castillo has a couple more days. Edit: Benji is out with a foot injury around 10-12 days.
Rudy Valencia has left the national team without giving La Chochera a reason and is now instead practicing with Alianza dumb move by him but kids coming up under Pohl generally don't make good decisions
Lineup for the Alianza friendly D. Carrilo; Molina, Mendoza, D. Torres, Monteagudo, R. Renderos, Sosa, G. Baires, Ó. Cerén, I. Gutiérrez, Blanco
Lineup against Juve Portillo, Henríquez, Granadino, Larín, Flores, Menjívar, D. Cerén, Mayén, Bonilla, Castillo, Burgos
They will unfortunately Direct TV took that off the sports package They posted the goltv schedule on this thread https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/copa-centroamericana-2013-tv-schedule.1980636/
Gol tv will show the games I posted the wrong link last time here is then link with the gol tv schedule https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/copa-centroamericana-2013-tv-schedule.1980636/
Official list of players going to Costa Rica http://www.fesfut.org.sv/actualidad.php?id_noticia=932 1.Dagoberto Portillo 2.Derby Carrillo 3.Mardoqueo Henríquez 4.Milton Molina 5.Miguel Granadino 6.Xavier García 7.Alexander Larín 8.Richard Menjivar 9.Andrés flores 10.Darwin Cerén 11.Darwin Bonilla 12.Cristhian Castillo 13.Rafael Burgos 14.Romeo Monteagudo 15.Raúl Renderos 16.Gerson Mayén 17.Herbert Sosa 18.Nelson Bonilla 19.Luis Contreras 20.Isidro Gutiérrez 21.Léster Blanco
Two surprises is Herbert Sosa and Monteagudo. I'm guessing injuries to Torres and El Pibe led to some of them as well as Castillo making the list.
Doesn't seem like a good enough team to me to go against Honduras and Panama. I don't like that Portillo, Henriquez, and Monteagudo are on the team too.
I definitely agree with you. Monteagudo is a maleta. Why does he still keep getting called up? It's wishful thinking, but i hope Derby Carrillo Plays goalie for us for the cup. That dude is a beast. Henriquez has his days, i'm guessing Purdy not being in the squad influenced that decision. I'm He uses Isidro gutierrez, Richard Menjivar, Gerson Mayen, and Ruso Flores as the mids.
Castillo and Mayen are most likely going to start or going to be key players for the UNCAF team and are too weak in my opinion to play against Honduras or Panama. Hope they can out smart the players with their technical ability and skills. I've seen Castillo play carefully against Panama and Honduras in the past, he doesn't really do much, and when he tries to dribble or pull off tricks he flops or loses the ball. Hopefully he learned from the past.
One of the possible line ups it's going to be a 4-4-2 Dago, Xavi, Granadio, Mardoqueo, Monteagudo, Ruso Flores, Ceren, Menjivar, Castillo, Bonilla & Burgos So far Chochera has confirmed Burgos & Bonilla as starters for the first game.
Here four curious facts about the team * all together this team has 249 caps between them, making them the most inexperienced squad to compete in a copa centroamerican/UNCAF nations cup ever * 7 players that have been called up have never played for the national team making it the most number of players on zero ever to be called up for an El Salvador team competting in the centro-american/UNCAF nations cup ever * Christian Castillo is the most experienced player in the team with 45 caps followed by Xavier Garcia with 29 caps * last time Rafael Burgos played in Copa Centro-american cup he was the leading goalscorer with 3 goals
