That's nice and all but I didn't say that. I specifically said that Jona shouldn't be measured in the same manner as an attacking player or a winger and highlighted the things that made him stand out to me during the Colombia, meaning that his performance and attributes deserve a different consideration. Much like that of a defender or a goalkeeper. We certainly agree on this. Like I said before, Jona has tons of potential but like Baysic said, he hasn't really done shit to warrant being included in the A team over the past year. I do, however, think his skillset as a center midfielder is something we don't currently have in the domestic league. One more thing, Chepo, Gonzales Inarritu and Tena are currently on La Ultima Palabra and when asked about Vela skipping the Olympics, Chepo indicated that Vela was only being considered for the Olympics, not for the June WCQs, which had a bunch of people here (including myself) up in arms about turning his back on the NT. Chepo also clarified that he supported Vela's position with regards to the importance of pre season with his club and that even though he was in consideration for a spot on the Olympic squad, it wasn't a given due to the fact that Vela wasn't going to be physically ready to compete while other domestic players had been putting in the work and deserved to be considered.
not sure if it was mentioned but Zizinho was at the press conference and seemed to have made peace with fmf.
I wonder if players take the NT into consideration when they decide on career moves (specifically European based players) I'm not saying they should just wondering? In JDS case he decided it was more important to stay at a prestigious club rather than actually playing. Obviously Jonathans club decisions ae making him almost a non factor when it comes to the MNT hence my question.
I've always wondered the same thing. Does the NT mean as much to them as we think/hope it does? Or is it just another paycheck? Small money compared to their club I'm assuming.
It has more to do with contracts with third parties than with whatever paltry amount of money they get each time they play with el Tri. Chicharito, for instance, receives about 11 million dollars in royalties from some of FEMEXFUT's biggest sponsors, including Coca Cola. Ochoa is a similar case. His deal with All State would not be possible without the National Team, and I would argue it's one of the reasons he puts up with being second in line to Corona. The thing about ideals is that they get thrown out of the window once money gets involved.
did you know that Temo has the record for most goals in Confed? saw that a couple of weeks ago.. Nice
same here and hopefully we'll get to face them and show the Nads just how to beat them. we've beaten Ghana before, even if it was friendlies.
Then we don't need to show them anything... Just bring that friendly up, friendlies mean everything to them.
