I don't get caught up in pro/non-pro. Some MLS academies are garbage and just exist for show. Plus quite a few of these guys will be overseas by the time their U20 cycle rolls around in 2016-17.
Here's USSF development strategy. Get your best players and send them to international tournaments. Hope they get a contract overseas because the domestic option is not cutting it right now.
I'd say pretty much any U16 match is time for experiments. These kids are part of the next U18 cycle, which only exists to keep kids in the program that will be part of the next U20 cycle. In other words, these kids wont play meaningful national team matches for the better part of the next four years. Every kid that gets called to travel to Azerbaijan should get to play when there is nothing at stake.
Its that mental state our national team goes with and we sit there and scratch our heads wondering why we lose and don't win shit
Guiseppe Rossi was bought for 10 millions Euros recently, at one point he was with ManU and the sold him for 6 m. Imagine an USSDA player getting "poached" by a foreign club and then flipped for millions like Rossi was. The corresponding MLS academy not seeing a dime would change their tune very fast in regards to development.
Experiment at our domestic camps, you think those countrys have experment squads out there no! But your best out there
Yeah, the prestigious U16 Caspian Cup is not time for experiments! We need to win that silverware goddammit!
What ever age we always get compared to mexico and they win, why because they don't try to change the players talent here in the U.S. system they change the players talents to fit the U.S system. And it ain't a winning system we are killing the kids natural talent they come in to the national system with.
You're giving an example of a post I didn't understand. If you could restate your original post, it was confusing.
well not gonna get very many players from U.S to be poached cause we kill there talent running them through residency
Because we all know that the only way to play for the full national team is to be one of the 40 17 yr olds that go to residency.
Haha. Brazil failed to qualify for this last U20 WC. If youth tournaments were the gauge for senior success, the Africans would have won the world cup a long time ago. And as I have previously stated, statistically the U20 level(and not even the U23 level)graduates the most players to the senior national teams world wide.
Nope. The player's desire to win at that age needs to be there. The coaches need to see the bigger picture. And also no, that isn't the reason we don't win. We don't win because we don't develop world class talent or have the tacticians to use it if it is developing. Our mental state is actually our program's biggest strength, and is the only reason we overachieve with regularity.
