2013-2014 Columbus Crew Offseason Roster Thread

I only mentioned them to highlight that there are certain guys in MLS that should be considered incomparable. Eddie has no equal. I didn't mention Ralston, but he's another one. These guys don't grow on trees. You can't just go and find a natural talent like Eddie. And I'd add Casey and Wynne too, when you find the next versions of these players, let me know.

 

Ralston, yes. I still disagree with Wynne and Conner.

 

You also have to take in consideration that Eddie has been playing Pro soccer since 2003. He is an 11 year vet and maybe his legs feel like he is in his 30's.

 

So they have got their chance and proved to be almost always awful (Tchani) or inconsistently awful with flashes of decent soccer skills (Meram)... In a few years we are going to have to give somebody up, it's not too unrealistic to think a team may prefer to get Meram than an unproven reserve-playing rookie we get in this year's draft.

 

Or we could find a natural wing mid?

You want to pay 2 players about $200k (of the limited money that we have to spend on a squad) between them on the chance that an expansion side will pick them in the next few years?

How does that make sense?

 

I was shocked that Ryan Finley was not thrown on the wings by RW this year like he did with every Foward we drafted under his reign as Coach. So I am willing to give Meram another year but Tchani is need to go.

Why do you want to keep a player who an expansion club might draft? It makes no sense. He is taking up a roster spot and salary cap space.

So far this off-season, we have:

1) Cut Horton and Sanchez (freeing up over 200k in salary)
2) Had Gaven retire (freeing up another 200k +)
3) For some reason I can't fathom, decided that Schelotto and Ramos can't even make the final list for HC.
