I also got the email - $8 for 2 games (back to back) And something about showing MLS we deserve a team...
Next up Toronto and friends. Should be interesting all around. Is the Feb 25 Toronto match the one Garber will be at? Or the Mar 1?
We should assume he'll be there the entire tournament. But supposedly we get our opportunity as Orlando fans to meet him on March 1.
This is a packed tournament with 8 clubs this year. I wonder if the fans will pack the small confines of Disney's makeshift stadium. Its always hectic with two sets of teams / fans arriving and 2 leaving the fields. But watching soccer in the winter months in the sunshine has to be better than waiting for the season to start in the cold snow. Looking forward to seeing - Torsten Frings - TFC Brian Ching - back w/ Houston Brek Shea - Dallas FC Montreal Impact - MLS debut Vancouver Whitecaps - Sebastain LeToux debut Sporting Kansas City - Cj Sappong / Teal Bunbury Orlando City - Max Griffin, Dennis Chin Hakken BK - Swedish lady supporters ?

Orlando certainly is in the spot light this week. The MLS has evolved quite a bit since the two clubs played in Tampa and Miami. Gone are most of the non-FIFA rule changes and the marketing has targeted international-minded fans rather than the soccer-moms and little leaguers. Orlando and vicinity will have to prove that the region can support a professional team regardless of tough economic times, bias sports media and the lack of a soccer specific stadium. Today's town meeting and the offerings of Orlando's Mayor will be just two factors that will be measured this weekend. I'll be out at Disney - for either the beginning of something big, or the end of the something that could have been big.

Well at least he mentioned Tampa and he doesn't know jackshit why the team folded if he thinks it's because of support.
Doesn't change the fact that Tampa has NO shot in hell to get a team, despite how many USMNT games it holds.
the fact is Garber said "gun-shy" which means he's wary, he didn't say never ever. I guarantee you when we sellout home opener and the Rowdies announce a SSS downtown, things could change.
Was it me, or did it seem that the Orlando City game vs Toronto was far more crowded then these other friendlies.
One of the fields has 500 permanent seats, and another has 1,000 permanent seats, expandable to up to 3,000 with additional grandstands. Field 17, the field with the larger grandstands, hosts the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic, an annual four-team preseason soccer tournament featuring Major League Soccer teams. Soccer in a smaller venue where it's crowded looks a lot better...... than maybe more fans in a 61k stadium. I will take 7-8k sellout than 10k in a 61k stadium.
Dude, go somewhere else. You've already said this else where. Prime asked if it was more crowded than the other friendlies. And yes it was. Seemed like everybody there, but the four or so Toronto fans was there for Orlando.
Another good game and a fair result. Toronto looks a better team than the Union, at least in this friendly . (what a difficult amazing goal their no. 22 made). I'm always surprised we keep up with these stronger/faster teams from MLS. Defense was very solid despite the 2 goals. We miss Neal on the wing and didnt have an aerial attack but otherwise we condensed the field well - griffin really get behind them well ...I'd pick him up if I was torontos coach...
great showing from city, and nice looking facilities. hope to see orlando in the MLS sooner rather than later.
Any idea what the actual attendances have been like this year? As a City Islander fan who dealt with snow this weekend, I'm envious of the warm-weather locations that get to host these preseason events. Maybe I should do a road trip next year...
I'm not too sure if Disney releases attendance numbers. There are other events being held there at the same time so for me it was hard to judge. Although all the stands were full. It really is a nice complex. You should come down.
