That means that Wynne asked for his name to be removed then. That is a good sign. It is interesting that Smith is still on the list if he was helping out with phone calls today. I can't blame him for wanting to take the risk of someone agreeing to pay him more than the Rapids, but he probably knows he won't get picked up. Same thing with Freeman.
Ike Opara's contract is ugly, but less ugly than Danny Califf's. I think the Rapids are safe to wait until stage 2, but will he make it past the first 5 slots, or at that point would Califf be a better pick up if he is still available at #6. Any other CBs in there worth looking at? (Besides Wynne, you jokers ) Any other non-Rapids players you hoping to see make it to stage 2?
The only selection in Phase 1 was Maicon Dos Santos by the Fire. Now teams are free to negotiate with their players again through next Thursday night before Phase 2 next Friday. In Phase 2 any player taken does not have their option picked up, the team that takes them just has to make them a bona fide offer by the 21st in order to retain the rights to the player. The current team can also select their own players once every other team has had a chance to take them.
Per the players union's numbers, it was $65 (October, 2012) ... He's only 23 so if he has potential, it could be something to consider. http://www.mlsplayers.org/salary_info.html
Because for the most part these are players that are overpaid, so teams don't want them at their current contracts. Next week you'll see more players taken as at that point teams only have to make them a bona fide offer at a lower number.
becks leaving mean's teams got smaller budgets this year ! thats kinda good news for us. hoping we can bag win for 225 even at that...
Um, I can't even parse this. I think you're saying that Beckham leaving means that teams have smaller budgets this year, which isn't true. Salary budget goes up 5%/year regardless of who's in the league. As to getting a win for 225 I don't even know what that means....
Once I was stopped at a train crossing watching all the boxcars go by and admiring the ones that were spray painted up and I was like " I can't read what it's supposed to say but I like it." and my mom replied, "If you were high on the same type of drug as the artist you see it right off."
Since there has been no news on Smith or Freeman is that a good thing? When is deadline to sign before they go into pot for stage 2?
Cross Opara off the list: http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012/12/sporting-kc-trades-defender-ike-opara
If they picked up his option, again better them than us. If they re-signed him at a lower number though that would be a missed opportunity IMO.
Yeah, the contract will be the big factor in judging that. It will also be interesting to find out if the Rapids even tried. With the Rapids having two 2nd rounders that are higher picks than SKCs, it seems they easily could have made this happen.
With the rumor they're about to sign Claudio Bieler, they are making some interesting moves. Though is Feilhaber supposed to take over Espinoza's role?
I truly enjoy your terse, insightful comments, they add greatly to the discussion. While this is only one of many examples, it illuminates my point. As in any speaking or writing if verbiage does not add to the fund of knowledge or otherwise embellish the topic it is best lest unsaid. Seemingly, you and Dismemberment attended the same school of brilliant and gritty dialog!
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot this was a place where planetary scale ideas are exchanged in meaningful and impactful setting. oh wait THIS IS AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD FOR AN MLS SQUAD. I'm sorry i dont give a flying crap about word choice grammar or punctuation on an internet message board... Tell you what if society collapses because of my lack of verbosity on this forum than you can go ahead and have me drawn and quartered... otherwise
