That's really all there is to it.

Kirovski was the guy who played for a Champion's league team. He was the guy who played in the EPL. He was the guy who did pull some really beautiful plays out from time to time (see his goal against Germany). And, he was always the guy who had the same excuses and empty praise that Benny enjoys.... it was the coaches... he's always a step ahead of his team mates.... when they get into sync with him... did you see the game back in.. where he... you can just see the - choose your empty superlative, "class" seems to be a favorite...

Kirovski and Benny are like Billy Beane as a player. Scouts and coaches fall in love with their looks, they do impressive things from time to time, but can't put it together consistently on the field. One of the more interesting things about Beane in Moneyball is the self reflection that he had to realize the scouts were full of it when it came to him, and he wasn't going to make the same mistakes on somebody else that were made on him.

If I understand things correctly, by some time on Monday, the Galaxy and Houston will have to notify players/league who they are waiving that do not qualify for the re-entry draft for their own little waiver selection process (with only two teams cutting people it is less of a draft and more just the normal waiver process in any league). How much would it suck to have one of these two scenarios happen to you:

    A) You just lost MLS Cup and depending upon your involvement it might have been one of the most excruciating playing experiences you have had and now you are being notified you are being waived.

    B) You just won MLS Cup and you have been partying with the rest of the guys since then, but now the other shoe has dropped and you are being waived.

The MLS calendar can be a very cruel mistress.

Deadline is today for all teams to get deals done or players go into Re-Entry. Not sure if I said that right but can't figure out a better way to say it.

Wed MLS will release names of all players available for draft, but I bet we will know most of them before then.

Guess we find out whats going on with Jaime Smith.

Colin Clark is the only person listed for Houston...

I pass on him in stage 1. Stage 2, maybe I think about it for sentimental reasons. Maybe he would be willing to take a "coming home" discount.

So does anyone know if this means that Pablo Mastroeni's option was exercised (the fact that he's not on the list of players available)? If so, then I believe his contract becomes guaranteed for next year, right?

No news yet, as I mentioned in the N&A thread I'm betting he's planning on either re-signing or retiring, so he's ruled himself out of the Re-Entry Draft already so MLS just didn't bother listing him.

Thanks - so has he recovered from the concussion symptoms, or is there no news on that either? It would be great to see him be able to play again, and not have to retire due to injury issues.

He needs to retire for himself (before he really ends up with head problems) and so the rapids can move on.

So, is some time late Thursday (maybe 5PM eastern?) the deadline for Wynne et al. to pull out of the draft?

Correct, though I don't know if there will be any sort of announcement or anything (this is MLS after all).

Do you think Freeman would take it well if I told him that I hope his contract keeps him from getting picked up by anyone else? :D

Not shocked, but I doubt he'll find a taker at his current salary.

This will be the second year in a row he's been in the re-entry draft.

This is getting worrisome that nothing has been announced about Wynne yet.

Well, if Wynne enters the draft, I guess there is still a good chance teams could pass one him if that option year is a high amount (which we think it is). That would give the Rapids another chance to negotiate with him, right? Though if a deal is not done by re-entry draft stage 1, it's not looking too good.

All quiet on the twitter front (Rapids, MLS, Hinchey, Goff, Ives)...who'd leak names first?

Anyone think we will select anyone in first stage?

    I just don't see it.

Love the limbo on Wynne, this FO just knows how to do business.
