Have a feeling Mariner is going to be with TFC for a long time and will pull it all together. Why can't we find coaches like that?

The SJ Earthquakes have scored 52 goals in 26 games, for an average of 2 goals per game. If they can keep it up (score 16 in their final 8), they will be the first MLS team to average 2 goals per game in a season since the 2001 Miami Fusion.
They signed him and made it work. Amazing what having a franchise that players WANT to go to, and an organization that can make it happen.
Twellman tweets: Seattle bringing Eidur Gudjohnsen, formerly of Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona, will join the team this week on trial. Amazing when players want to come to an organization and the organization finds a way to make it happen.

Good piece by Kyle (though I think some that posted comments need work on their reading comprehension skills). If the Revs are at a disadvantage in attracting quality players because of things they can't control (climate, desirability of Boston vs. other cities, etc), isn't it absolutely crititcal to do the things right that they can control? A top notch futbol organization, skilled at player evaluation, acquisition and retention, experts at MLS economics - that's just the baseline. Until you do these things right, it's almost not worth talking about marketing, growing the fanbase, not to mention building a stadium.
Great posts, Brian. The more I think about this article, the more it brings home a number of points people have made on this board. The most important difference between modern (2007-2012) MLS and the MLS that Revolution inhabit is that in modern MLS, successful teams are constantly building and looking to the future. Not to do so is to fall progressively further behind. No matter how many #1 draft picks we get, no matter how many YSA's, no matter if Sir Alex is hired to take over for JH, it will never matter unless the club's mission is to be champion every single year. The reality is if you aspitre to be champion, most years you will just be good. If you aspire to be just good enough, most years you will be a team that other teams look forward to playing.
Exactly! And, I'm pretty near positive Boston is a very desirable city..with Celts/Sox being World Famous..and the fact that NYC is practically a Khano kick away! And Boston being a huge destination for many people. It's on the map. I truly believe the news of this Organization travels through the 1st world..and the Apathy is something KSG can't overlook or change with minor adjustments. Though not as severe as I wish them to be...clearly, they, if they wanted to, could turn it all around very very quickly..and there would be NO reason why the pats and Revs couldn't co-exist in harmony that would be beneficial to both sets of fans. I don't rank on this organization because I suddenly realized I hated the nfl/kraft etc! Bob Kraft has, for me, systematically alienated so many die hard fans and has turned MLS in our area into such a mockery, that I continue to follow this team..in the same vain that others continue to be STH. I would Love to witness the change that brings us to that truly happy place!
First Koevermans, now Torsten Frings done for the year. Toronto making it awfully difficult for the Revs to catch them for that #1 SuperDraft pick...
Quakes trialing former EPL defender with eye to 2013 September 6, 2012 Geoff Lepper MLSsoccer.com Something the Revs should be doing. Is there a former Revs player out there who would recommend that his friends play for the Revs? I doubt it.
I remember bringing this up last year, and being told that they couldn't plan things like that at this point.
