Well with a midfield of Mario Martinez (impressive for Honduras in Olymipics), Christian Tiffert, Ozzie Alonso and Mauro Rosales and a frontline of Eddie Johnson and Fredy Montero, Seattle are officially the scariest team in MLS
Weird trade, I don't get it from Portland's point of view. You trade your younger, fan favorite GK in exchange for an older injury prone one who's not even having a great year? And in the middle of a year where you have no shot at the playoffs, due to the fact you're even worse than the Revs? Very odd.
Doug McIntyre @DougMacESPN MT @OrtizKicks With Geoff Cameron now cleared to join Stoke, Ricardo Clark is officially a Houston Dynamo player. #usmnt
Houston has Clark lined up before Cameron is even officially gone, SEA replaces Fernandez with Tiffert on the same day. Meanwhile, Shalrie has been gone a week, our #9 is now gone too, and the crickets are still chirping in Foxboro.
SKC defeats Seattle in a pk shoot out to win the Open Cup, after they tied 1-1 in regulation. I didn't watch the game myself but apparently it was quite eventful. Between the ref supposedly being incredibly biased towards SKC including calling Gspurning for a line violation in the middle of the shootout, Graham Zusi apparently taking the worst panenka in history, and commentating that people complained about so much that they probably would have made Brad Feldman look like Martin Tyler, I'm sure it was one hell of a game to watch.
It definitely was... interesting. The original PK that gave KC their goal, never really saw a good replay showing the clear handball. The line violation, I could actually see, but I think that happens so often, was just surprised to hear it called. But at the end of the day (and again, I'm not one for blaming the refs) ... Eddie Johnson and his teammates could have done better than to sky their penalties. On another note ... I was completely envious of that stadium, atmosphere, ownership last night. After watching that, and knowing what we'll see Sunday night ...
Portland trades away a defender for a first round pick and then goes out and signs a young Kiwi defender from the Olympics. Anyone tell Burns you can do this?
Classy move by MLS, TFC and the Crew, as they postpone their game to let the players go to Urso's funeral.
Shalrie dispossessed at the edge of the box gives Colorado an easy goal. Strange sequence of events in the SJ-MON game. Lenhart jostling in the box with Camara away from the ball, Lenhart throws an elbow, Camara retaliates. Ref consults with AR, red cards Camara. Consults with AR again, red cards Lenhart, but awards a PK to SJ. Montreal answers back with 3 goals to get the last laugh.
Could be a very good signing. He got no time at Wigan last season, but I think he'll be a solid option in MLS.
Revs are now in 9th place in the East. Just to make sure everyone understands, this isn't a whine. Sorry if I offend anyone's sensibilities by posting this.
Colorado Rapids sign Hendry Thomas, ex-EPL pro, to replace Mastroeni http://www.denverpost.com/rapids/ci...s-sign-hendry-thomas-ex-epl-pro#ixzz24CIaHxlY
Houston (on the road) and LA (home) start their CCL group stage this week, today and tomorrow respectively. A couple of EC games tonight as well, as a win for TFC at Crew would tie them with us for the bottom of the standings (we'd have a game in hand), while Chicago tries to jump into second place in the East with a win at DC.
24 Under 24: Fan voting bodes well for one surprise name August 22, 2012 Simon Borg MLSsoccer.com Yes, Montreal's Sanna Nyassi is the surprise name. Why can't we get players like that?
I think it's safe to say that among your other stellar attributes you are a master of the art of being Snarky.
