As long as you're setting the bar low. And I'm only half-joking. When Yeagley Sr retired, he left behind a program that could've won 5 out of 7 by itself (it won 4 of 7). Ditto for when Arena left UVa (it won 4 1/2 of 7). In college soccer, that's what it means to be a powerhouse. If Akron can make it to back-to-back finals and UCSB can make it to two out of three, then none of the major conference schools have much to boast about.
Hmmm Was my post not clear enough about ths exact point? Seems to me Charlottes chances of getting into the Tourney are diminished by playing ACC teams, not enhanced... and there is no reason for ACC teams to help Charlottes Cause. Maybe Akron should move to a more difficult conference...
By your logic, ACC schools should want to face Charlotte, since by doing so they'd diminish Charlotte's chances. But of course, the ACC is too chicken. If they could, they would. They already face most of the Big Ten and some of the top programs in the Big East. They haven't backed down from anyone. Is it any wonder that kids want to be a part of that?
