re: San Jose. I don’t think it’s unfair to say if Omar had not been injured our record against The Earthquakes would be 2-0-0 and we’d be first in the West. San Jose is better this year, but has been very fortunate. For one thing their schedule was very favorable; in their series against RSL, Seattle, Dallas and LA they were the home team two out of the three games. This isn’t to complain or begrudge them their success, we’ve had fortunate schedules in the past, but I don’t think in a balanced schedule they’re as good as they are in an unbalanced one.

Just had a thought: Didn't Frank Yallop's previous success with SJE also come when the team played on a pitch as narrow as a three-lane bowling alley? Those "it barely qualifies as soccer" pitches do give them a home field advantage, which Frank never had when he was coaching at HDC. This also sort of explains SJE's mediocre record on the road when they have to play in wider real soccer fields. Or maybe I am just making way too much out of this.

    This a great point.

Wasn't one of the conditions of San Jose's reentry into MLS that they develop a real soccer specific stadium? When will the league office hold their feet to the fire and enforce this provision?

How long does their grace period for a under standard field last?

SmurfNation broke ground a couple of weeks ago. Here's an architectural sketch:

Yep, he actually had the width of the pitch narrowed when his “tactics” weren’t working out.

Great point. Wilhelmsson (gotta keep typing that name until I can spell it correctly most of the time!) doesn't need to come in and put us on his back and "save" the team. He just needs to be an upgrade from Jimenez. That's really all.

Any improvement takes a team that has already been tearing it up, and upgrades what has been the weak-link the past few months...

So unless he totally bombs and Jimenez beats him out for that starting wide midfield spot, I think he's going to help the team....

If something happens so Jiminez legitimately earns a starting spot over a guy like Wilhelmsson, we'll be too busy celebrating to worry about a bad signing. :)

All jokes aside, they are actually having a groundbreaking party in a month or so. There is a thread in MLS N&A about it and I think it's about time.

Until I win the lottery, buy the team and move them again. I’m thinking Tulsa.

Anyone know about the kid? I've seen his name quite a lot in reserve league lineups, but I haven't really followed him. Maybe the next Omar in a few years? idk...can't even find a listed height for him.

alright...found out that he can play anywhere on the backline

All I've heard is that he's the most highly regarded defender in our Academy. I also think he went this pass summer to Hammarsby and trained with them and Greg Berhalter...

You don't leak anything that is not official yet because it may not be official and doesn't happen after all and you get egg on your face if that's the case.

The Galaxy as a club has to officially announce the signing, then Bruce can talk the Academy signing up as much as he wants.
