I saw some pictures from Detroit, very nice supporters section. It would be nice if they can somehow make the USOC for 2013.
yep, they have a really nice page of facebook full of photos...they've definitely done things the right way
Glad to see a lot of the new teams are doing well, creating a pretty good culture. Very glad i had the opportunity to work with a lot of those groups this year. I hope the league continues to flourish in spite of some things, but it should with the stronger groups that came in this year (and the past 2 years).
so is posting team press releases here illegal? Last I checked this wasn't copyright material and it's still the United States...
Yeah, as you know I really wasn't sold on the amount of travel necessary from Binghamton to Buffalo to Erie to Detroit to Cleveland...but from where I sit attendance-wise that might be the best conference.
If it's an original work of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, yes, it's copyright(ed) material and subject to all the protections of US Copyright Law. If you write something in the next half hour and print it or tack it to a tree or read it out loud and record it as an .mp3 and put that on the internet, it's copyrighted if it's an original work. There aren't any forms to fill out, there's no fee to pay; you create it, you publish it, it's copyrighted. That said, something like a press release - whose information is intended to be disseminated, could fall under"fair use" provisions, which say if it's for "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research," it's not copyright infringement. Bigsoccer frowns on posting entire news articles, but a brief, team-issued press release is probably not an issue. But if it exists online somewhere, linking to it is always your best bet.
Mark, probably best to post a few lines from the press releases then the link And yes I told you the Binghamton to Detroit Circuit would be good. If Rochester and Syracuse come in along with Pittsburgh and another Ohio Team, that would be an amazing group. That way everyone has some pretty great derby's.
Yes, it is illegal here on BS. It violates the TOS. As I have told you many times. I believe you are possibly the worse offender in the history BS. Good job!
Saturday, June 16th saw AFC Cleveland travel to the Dome Field on Airport Road to complete a positive record versus GBFC having already tied 2-2 and winning at Cleveland 3-0. Cleveland, having just scored a 4-2 victory over Detroit FC to take first place on the Great Lakes Division stepped onto the turf field with all the confidence of a winning team. Little did they know that Greater Binghamton FC had finally fielded a strong, competitive team that is worthy of competition with any team in the league. All of the months of preparation, recovery from injuries, and international clearances completed gave GBFC it’s most complete team to date. The end of the 90 minutes saw GBFC prevail with a decisive 2-0 score and notching what will be the first of many wins that the team will tally in the future. Local product and ex-professional player Chris Riley opened the scoring by beating a defender with a deft move to his right and let loose a blast from 25 yards out into the lower right corner of the goal past a diving Ben Yabrow. Riley’s decisive goal put Cleveland back on their heels and from that point on, GBFC dominated play and created many more opportunities. In the 86th minute, substitute Cody Healy won a 50-50 ball 25 yards from goal, dribbled to the end line, touched the ball by the defender and delivered a ground ball to the penalty mark where an unmarked Ermin Corbic. Ermin, also substituted earlier in the second half, received the perfect pass and coolly placed the ball into the lower right corner. Cleveland keeper Ben Yabrow was unable to save the perfectly placed shot. Yabrow finished the game with 2 saves versus GBFC net minder Jason Stenta with 4 saves. Both squads only generated 6 shots each as the midfield dominated game showed that our team could possess the ball and defend collectively to produce a team win. The team traveled to FC Buffalo on Sunday June 17th to avenge a 2-1 loss in Buffalo 2 weeks ago. With the final tally 1-1 the final match between the two teams, scheduled for Sunday July 1st at the Dome Field at 3pm will certainly determine the 4thplace team in the division, enabling that team a berth in the Great Lakes Conference Semi-Finals. Binghamton opened the scoring in the 31st minute as Syracuse University standout Mawuena Agbossoumonde fed a perfect pass to Owego High and Lemoyne University striker Mike Spadine. Spadine, with a defender physically trying to prevent him from advancing, proceeded to muscle his way toward the Buffalo goal. As he got a step behind the defender, he slotted a low ball to the far post. Buffalo keeper, Eric Duhond was powerless to save the well placed shot. FC Buffalo did not give up and in the 52nd minute, midfielder Mike Reidy decisively dribbled through 5 GBFC players and toe poked the ball past a diving Jason Stenta for the equalizer. Both teams continued to play a spirited game with neither team prevailing. GBFC will face third place Erie at the Dome Field on Sunday June 24th at 3pm. Erie won an earlier match in Erie 4-0. With a stronger, competitive team on our home field, Greater Binghamton FC will attempt to turn the score into our favor.
Erie still undefeated against Buffalo, but Buffalo do grab a point in order to now make the lifetime series 8-0-1
Apparently after Tommy Schmitt scored the equalizer, some Detroit fans threw bottles at him. Some of our players were also spat at while taking throw ins.
A trip out west did not faze the Morris County Colonials, as they worked hard to grab a 6-0 win against Junior Lone Star FC at Northeast High School's Charles Martin Memorial Stadium in Philadelphia, PA. The away form of the Colonials is proving to be extremely impressive, as the team has now scored 13 and conceded no goals in just two games. The Colonials were keen to make their mark early and this was proved almost instantly when Nye Winslow converted in the first minute. Shortly afterwards, Will Broomfield headed the ball home to make it 2-0. Morris County veteran JP Berr made it 3-0 with his first of the season, before Winslow and Broomfield both secured braces to put the Colonials 5-0 up before the half. Lone Star came out of the changing room with a fighting spirit, and despite hard work, they were unable to get back on the scoresheet; a mistimed tackle from their backline handed College of Charleston striker Luke Huggett his second chance to convert a penalty in two games; he converted his PK with 15 minutes left on the clock, getting his seventh goal of the season. Last night, the Colonials beat the previously undefeated FC Sonic 1-0, giving Morris County a 100% away record.
trying to figure out the west standings....Real San Jose has 5 points on the standings page, but on their page they have 8....
The Morris County Colonials picked up one of the biggest results in this month's NPSL action with a huge road win against the previously-undefeated FC Sonic Lehigh Valley, winning 1-0. FC Sonic were just four wins away from becoming the first team to get every point over a 12-game stretch in the history of the NPSL, and were also en-route to being the first team to remain undefeated after a season since 2010 (Chattanooga FC, 6-0-2, 2010). It means that the Sonic and Colonials are the only undefeated teams away from home in the Keystone Conference. At first, FC Sonic pushed hard, forcing Colonials keeper Chris Duggan to make a number of big saves. Meanwhile, Will Broomfield - who claimed a pair of scores in a 6-0 away win at Junior Lone Star FC last week - cleared another powerful shot off the line midway through the half. It would be veteran midfielder Jonathan Yazo who got yet another assist this season, grabbing his eighth of the campaign when providing a brilliant pass to Kharee Winslow from a free-kick. Kharee, younger brother of Cols forward Nye, rose high above the Sonic defense to head home from 12 yards out, capping a virtuoso performance by the dominant Kean midfielder. Colonial players get their next shot at another win Sunday (July 1st), when they travel to Egg Harbor Township for their second showdown with the AC Crusaders, who they beat 4-1 at home on May 30th.
I think the NPSL site has only been updating the standings with games played within the team's own conference for some reason. So maybe RSJ beat a team from the SW, but it isn't included in the standings?
I don't think the NPSL site has been updating the west stats in a while. They've been missing a bunch of games played, even in conference.
