Amazing, this Pens/Flyers series. There is so much venom, big hits, fighting, and goals. That's why playoff hockey is so amazing.

    Matt Carkner given ONE GAME

Brendan Shanahan officially declares open season.

Shea Weber and this confirm, the league wants the violence.

If they are satisfied with what went on on national TV today, then I guess they are getting what they want. I know if I were running an NHL team I'd sign half of Vityaz in the KHL and just call those guys up to intentionally injure the other teams star player. Take the five minute penalty, concede a goal and Claude Giroux, or Sidney Crosby, or Marian Gaborik, or Daniel Alfredsson is out for the series. Take the one game suspension to your goon and you have a significant advantage in the series.

I can't figure out the logic here - seems they're condoning an anything goes attitude - I think it's safe to say this means open season for head shots in the playoffs.

    So stupid

I don't think Carkner played in Game 1. So he won't play in game 2 or 3, big deal. But the irony is the Rangers lost Dubinsky for the game in Game 2 which they lost. Ottawa conceded one goal on a five minute major.

Suspend Hags, fine. I get it. But Weber slams Z's head into the glass and gets away with it. No big deal, right? Also Phillips threw an elbow to Cally's head and that doesn't even warrant a hearing. Is it because Cally didn't get hurt on the play? Are we just waiting for guys to get hurt before we punish them?

That is obviously the criteria. Not sure there is any other way to look at it.

I'd say they should be acting on the behaviour of the player, not the outcome of the incident. Apparently it's no harm, no foul.

Yes rational people would think this way.

Unfortunately it seems that the NHL brass have suffered a few too many head injuries themselves.

Anyone see how fast the home crowd jumped up so fast after that Schenn hit?

The flyers crowd was going ham after Schenn laid the wood on that dude(don't know his name,I don't follow hockey as religiously as you may think)

Yeah but I guess I'm just confused where you were going with it, since that is generally the reaction when your team has a player tag another player with a big hit.

What a ********in joke. Shanny, you make me sad that I ever rooted for you during your short stint on Broadway.

The real test will be to see what happens from all the crap that went on during the Pens/Flyers game. Asham should be suspended for the rest of the playoffs, Neal should get some sort of suspension, and Adams should have his man card revoked for hair-pulling. But Bettman would never allow the Pens to be short two players, now would he?

I'm not sure Asham gets more than a game. Schenn wasn't hurt, and his cross check hits him first in the chest and rides up his pads. If Carkner gets credit for "defending" a teammate, then I'd guess that goes in as well. Neal I doubt gets a suspension either because Couturier wasn't hurt.

    #1 seed? 1993

But it was not a 1 vs 8 seed matchup. They used to have 4 teams per conference and #1 vs #4 etc. Buffalo swept Boston AND ST. Louis swept Chicago in the same playoff.

    Bright side=

    Will force changes:

    -Decide on Shnei/lu
-fire Av, hire the crow(had a great team last time in vancouver, but had Cloutier in net)
    -Maybe a few roster movements

    Down side=

-Again, hodgson gone literally took Vancouver's offense, Kassian has been BRUTAL and Gragnani is in the pressbox behind Chris ********ING Tanev!(Gillis stated this was a trade to help us in the playoffs)...powerplay is non-existent
-Kesler is alone flying solo on the second line....Booth? Where art thou
-Edler, wow, a wanted poster is out for where the Edler from the past 3 seasons has gone.
-Raymond...just why, just why is he still on the roster?
-Malhrota..I hate to hate on a guy who had the injury he had...but he's done

-Pahlsson, brought to be a "shut down" guy....and looks past it, and has been a complete non-factor.

Felt bad for Edler when he got that delay of game penalty at the end. Shit happens.....just like Vlasic scoring on his own net yesterday.

The Hodgson trade was brain dead but I still think if Daniel is in the lineup this isn't where it is now. Hawks win this year again against the Canucks. Time to follow the Bruins lead.

So, can we all finally agree that Crosby does nothing but start shit, then hide behind his teammates, and whines and whines and whines when he doesn't get his way?

I had respect for his game, but now I have no respect for him whatsoever. He's not even worthy of my hate anymore. He's not a leader. He doesn't deserve to wear the C for any team. He's a coward, and a spoiled brat.
