of course there was 1997 when Wayne Gretzy and Mike Richter made the Devils their bitch. 5 goals in 5 games, 2 shutouts. Complete domination.
Watching Ryan McDonaugh I have to just marvel at how many good young American defenseman have suddenly popped up in the past few years. Faulk, McDonaugh, Carlson, Fowler I like
The Rangers went into the playoffs that year with only 3 lines. The 4th was a waste. A season ending injury happened in each series, so by the time they got to Philly (and couldn't hold the lead in game 1), they were bounced very quick, as depressing as that was.
When the Rangers have won a playoff game in a series against the Devils, they have gone on to win that series. If the former holds true, then the Rangers are on their way to the Stanley Cup Finals. (Before y'all get your panties in a bunch, I'm well aware that they still have 3 games left to win, but you can't ignore history and trends. The Rags look like the team to beat in this series.)
I believe in the other series when the Yotes lose first game of a series they are 0-8 so I guess the finals is per-determent already
Good for a Kings fan. As a neutral, the western conference playoffs have been lacking drama the last couple of weeks. Hopefully the Rangers-Devils series and final can make up for it.
I feel like there was a lot of diving in that game. If Dustin Brown was diving on that play, there were probably 500 diving calls missed. He probably should have got a diving call in the Hanzal hit and Lewis should have got five minutes for diving and breaking his own nose on the Doan hit.
This. I mean they have just annihilated every team that's come near them. Can't think of a team that has dominated the playoffs like this in recent memory. At least the Red Wings back in the day had the Avalanche to threaten them.
Seriously though... The way I see it, only Hanzal will get suspended (1 Game) but Mike Smith's super slash was by far the most deserving of a suspension. To bad goalies are over protected.
The Kings are extremely well-coached and very deep. The unknowns, like Jordan Nolan and Kyle Clifford, are fulfilling their roles, and Dustin Penner is skating much better in the playoffs than he did in the regular season. Remember that the Kings had the 4th best PK during the regular season and they had fewer losses, not including OT losses, than the Devils.
Wonder if the NHL will review the Brown hit which happen just before the Penner goal, be a blow to lose Brown from a portion of the cup finals.
absolutely not. nothing dirty about it at all. PHX is just butt hurt. pot meet kettle. PHX were the floppers, divers and goons all series. Doan and Smith seemed the most outraged by Brownie's hit which is the best laugh I've had in a while. Shoulder to shoulder, didnt leave his feet. Late off side whistle. Sucks rosizval got injured but thats honestly what he gets for taking a flop minutes earlier when penner love tapped him with the stick. Keep acting like your hurt and one of these days you will actually get hurt.
