The Texans woke up this morning, and just took another stupid penalty. I think Rodgers threw another touchdown afterwards. Talk about not being a team ready for prime time. To get waxed by the Packers is one thing. To get waxed AT HOME on national TV, and consider yourselves one of the best defenses in the NFL is another. Who's the best team in the NFL? The Falcons are 6-0, but they look beatable every single week. They look like the kind of team that could go 4-6 down the stretch, win the division, and lose their first playoff game. The Giants looked incredible aside from their two losses. Baltimore is a very good team, but losing two key members of their defense is really going to put them in a tough position. My top 5 teams... 1) Falcons 2) Giants 3) Texans 4) Bears 5) Ravens My bottom 5 teams... 32) Chiefs (Ugh. They're just awful.) 31) Jaguars 30) Raiders 29) Panthers 28) Browns
typically by week 5, I get a pretty good feel for the various teams in the NFL. this year, I can't quite figure it out. how dominant did the Texans and 49ers looked in their wins? until they lost --- and the 49ers especially - losing to Minnesota (how good are they?) and losing big to the Giants. only the ATL ( Cities Thread) seems to be a sure thing at this point. and that might change with the next game they play.
You know which team I can't tell is for real or not? Washington. One week they look incredibly dominant, and the next they look weak. They look like they could either win the division, or wind up in last.
Atlanta is not the best team in the NFL or NFC. They are a soft team that lack the character to win big games.
After the game during the press conference, Philip Rivers tried to throw Norv under the bus, but Norv was intercepted by the Broncos defense and run back for a touchdown.
Because he sucks. The Chargers had a really good head coach in Schottenheimer (14-2 in his last season, but first round loss to the Pats) and due to differences with the general manager they fired him and brought in Turner. Turner's team is 3-3. First place with a .500 record does not impress.
Martyball's probem is his teams' reg season promise v. their postseason results (5-13). Happened at three of his four NFL head coaching stops. Kansas City's loss was the one that stuck out the most for me- no, he didn't personally miss three chip-shot FGs, but still. Tony Dungy (OTTOMH) came perilously close to having this happen to him with the Colts, but 2006 saved his legacy. John Fox, Ken Whisenhunt, Mike Tomlin, Bobby Ross, Jon Gruden, Bill Callahan and Brian Billick have won or been to the Super Bowl, and unless I'm mistaken, none of them (has) coached as long in the League as Schottenheimer did, and I'd be surprised if any of them have won during the reg season like Marty did.
Pats got lucky. The Jets looked destined to storm down the field with Sanchez lighting up the Pats secondary in the process.
Well, we aren't going away quietly, at least. The Ravens got destroyed by Houston Sunday afternoon, so we're a game behind Baltimore with one in hand. I'm not sure how I feel about Emmanuel "Tango" Sanders suddenly catching the Cramps of God and saving us a timeout. It bothers me when a Steeler brings his bad habits from his college team or from another franchise, even when it results in a positive on the scoreboard. It's hard to coach that out of a player, but Tomlin will deal with it in house without getting the media involved.
F the cowgirls. Glad they lost and that moron Bryant placed his hand outside the end zone. That guy has rocks for brains. Must really suck right now to be Gerry Jones. Romo for all his considerable talent screws the pooch way too much.
4-3 (with a winning record for the first time this year) isn't what I expected at this point, but it is what it is. With Ray Lewis out for the season, a division title is still within reach. We'll see.
