Rafael Soriano was a strike away from a 6-4 victory but allowed a single, followed by a 3-run homer. Jeter tied it up with a solo blast in the bottom of the 9th. A throwing error on a pick-off by Derek Lowe in the 11th set up the winning run, which scored on a ground ball. It was only Sori's 3rd blown save this year. So 4 Yankee homers go to waste -- besides Jeter, Cano hit 2 and Swisher had a 2-run shot. Tampa Bay lost and stay 4 behind. But Baltimore won and have jumped over the Rays into 2nd place, 3 1/2 back of the Yanks. The really bad news was Mark Teixeira straining his left calf on a 4th inning at-bat.
