Cody Eppley feeds up a gopher ball in the 12th to give Oakland a 4-game sweep of the Yankees. All were low scoring games decided by a single run. Rafael Soriano blew the save by allowing an A's homer in the bottom of the 9th to tie. CC started and went 7, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6. Granderson hit his 26th. Yanks lead down to 6 games.

Ichiro had a single and a stolen base in his first Yankee appearence, going 1-for-4. Kuroda was terrific, 9 strikeouts over 7 innings and allowing only 3 hits. Soriano got save #25. A-Rod knocked out his 15th homer.

Ichiro was given number 31 to wear. His Seattle number, 51, still belongs to Bernie Williams!

A-Rod has broken hand because that neanderthal Felix couldn't control his stuff. Lost the game too. 1-5 on this west coast road trip.

I don't know. In addition to Rodriguez, Hernandez drilled Jeter on the left arm that same inning and hit Ichiro on the right foot the inning before. Interesting it just happened to be those three guys. Alex suffered a "non-displaced fracture" on the outside of his left hand. The Yankees will wait until he gets back to New York after today's game and is check out by the team doctor before issuing a timetable on his expected return to the lineup. In the meantime, we'll be seeing a lot of Eric Chavez.

Freddy Garcia struck out 8 in 7 1/3 innings, but got nailed for 3 runs early before putting down the last 15 batters he faced. Curtis Granderson hit his 27th home run. Ichiro doubled and was 1-for-3.

The Yankees broke through with a 4-run 8th inning. Big hit was a 3-run double by pinch-hitter Jason Nix. Nova struggled over 5, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits but walking 6 batters. The bullpen really closed down Seattle, giving up 1 hit during the last 3 2/3 innings. David Phelps got the win and Soriano picked up his 26th save. Jeter homered in the 1st. With A-Rod out of the order, Granderson was moved to 5th place in the lineup and Ichiro is now leading off. He went 1-for-5.

Ramiro Pena is finally back with the Yankees, taking Alex Rodriguez's place on the roster. At Scranton, Pena has been hitting .249 with 10 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run and 22 RBIs.

Yankee power blew the Red Sox out last night. There was a 2-run homer from Ibanez in the 1st and a 2-run job from Martin in the 4th. Finally, a grand slam from Granderson in the 8th -- his 28th home run of the year. Phil Hughes went 7, giving up 5 hits (including 3 solo homers). Ichiro went 1-for-4 and scored 2 runs. Yanks are the first team to reach 60 victories and are now 8 1/2 ahead of Baltimore.

Sabathia got racked up for 6 runs in 6 innings. Yankees came back thanks to home runs -- Stewart in the 3rd, a 2-run shot by Nix in the 5th, and a 2-run belt from Teixeira in the 8th. It all went down the drain in the top of the 9th thanks to Curtis Granderson muffing a flyball into a triple scoring the go-ahead run that gave Boston the victory. Ichiro went 1-for-3.

Hiroki Kuroda gave up 2 runs over 8 innings, getting Boston to hit into 4 double plays. But the Yankee bats didn't come through. Red Sox win it in 10 with Robertson taking the loss. Russell Martin had a solo homer. Yanks have lost 7 of the last 10. Ichiro went 1-for-4 and has gotten a hit in all his games as a Yankee so far.

Another loss. Freddy Garcia allowed 3 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings. Boone Logan came on and gave up 2 more. Ibanez homered and Chavez and Suzuki went back-to-back in the 7th. It was Ichiro's 100th MLB home run. More importantly, Mark Teixeira was removed from the game in the 8th inning after injuring his left wrist diving for a ball in the 7th. X-Rays were negative and he's received a cortizone shot but the soonest he'll be available to play is this weekend -- perhaps even later. Baltimore has cut the Yanks' lead to 6 1/2 games.

Yankees produce 5 runs in the 1st inning -- so Ivan Nova gives up 7 in the 2nd and another in the 3rd! He ended up allowing 9 runs over 5. (Was Girardi waiting for him to settle down before removing him?) The Orioles finished up with 11. Cano hit his 23rd homer. Ichiro went 1-for 4. Baltimore only 5 1/2 back!

Joba Chamberlain came on in relief and stumbled, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits (including a homer) and a walk over 1 2/3 innings.
