    And so it begins...

On a side note, we're not missing Jose as much as I thought we would. If the middle of the order can get their heads out of their asses, .500 is possible

If Johan and Dickey can keep pitching like this then .500 is inevitable.

Davis is just a mess right now.

And Dickey follows it up with another CG shutout gem. Boy, this is a fun year!

To make the ownership situation more interesting, Bill Maher bought a piece of the Mets:

"I've always been a a baseball fan but especially a fan of the New York Mets," Maher said before Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. "I've lived in Los Angeles almost 30 years but I've never stopped rooting for the Mets. That's one thing New Yorkers don't do, switch allegiances. And I've never been a fan of the DH."

Maher said he saw notice of the Mets selling limited partnerships sometime around December, and he quietly bought in. Those partnerships were advertised for $20 million to own a four-percent share, but Maher's exact stake in the team hasn't been confirmed.

Maher, born in New York City and raised in suburban River Vale, N.J., about an hour drive to Citi Field depending on traffic, said he recalled his father reading the papers one day and announcing to Maher's mother that New York was going to get a National League team again. Maher figures it must have been 1961, when he was only 5 years old.

"It's one of those memories that stuck in my mind," Maher said.

Game one to the Bronx Douchenozzles using their boring home run derby style because it's the only way they can win. That team is such a bore.

So Johan had a bad night. Big deal. He could nail my sister at this point and I would still give it up for the guy.

RA Dickey - best stretch in Met history? Only NL pitcher to have back-to-back CGs with one or less hit since 1944. Citi was rocking last night too. The best-pitched game I've ever seen live.

In his last six starts, he has only allowed one earned run in 48.2 innings pitched. The last time he allowed an earned run was 42.2 innings ago.

In my almost 30 years of being a fan this has to be my favorite half season. I can only suspect that the ends of 1969 and 1973 were better but that was before my time.

    What great fun!

RA off to Toronto to join a contender. We get d'Arnaud, Buck and young P Syndergard. Not a bad haul although I'll miss Dickey because he was the closest thing to "must see" start since Doc was still blowing them away...batters that is :D
