Get a tape of UP-Notre Dame 2005. What excites me about the new league is that folks like Merritt Paulson are involved. If they can't raise the level of excitement, no one can and the league deserves to die forever.
This is like watching an online webcast from 2003. Blurs of dots that appear on the screen, and then re-appear again in another spot on the screen.
It's still better than Penn State - Duke webcast. UCLA thought they can score one and bunker but as Rudy T. said - "never underestimate the heart of a champion". Go Stanford!
Stanford is the better 90 minute team. UCLA will win some sprints, but Stanford more times than not will win the marathon, in this matchup. I wonder if Tom Sermanni is watching any of these webcasts, and taking notes?
This game is DEJA-VU from their first matchup. UCLA needs to take a hint. This game is 90 minutes long, not 45 or 60. I don't notice a difference. It still seems like they have Jill Ellis as their coach, lol.
Now, that's a striker instinct! Girl does not look very athletic, but she KNEW where the ball is gonna land. Respect!
We have two great Semifinal matches. UNC vs. Stanford (rematch from 2009 classic) FSU vs. Penn State (both teams are looking for their first ever national title)
And that UNC vs. Stanford matchup also had two recent ties: in 2008 in Palo Alto and 2010 in Chapel Hill. Both were great early-season matchups. In 2008, Stanford show that it deserved to be in the national title picture and made the College Cup. In 2010, the Tar Heels showed they could keep up with the nation's best even with the players from the 2006 recruiting class graduating.
you called it early but accurately. it should be a good weekend in San Diego. I hope they got that field in shape after football season.
Even if UCLA gets the tying goal there, they don't have enough left in their midfield. Stanford would have won in double overtime.
IMHO while BYU couldn't play open game vs UNC, UCLA didn't want to play open game vs Stanford. And they looked better in some periods of 1st and late 2nd half, so potential was there, but the tactics was wrong.
