MBFC have announced tryouts to be held at the Market Commons fields on December 3, 2001 at 9:00 am. These are not the open tryouts (those are to be held January 28th) but are more focused on Grand Strand Soccer members.

Looks like the Southeast conference has been set... Now two divisions with Myrtle Beach FC, Jacksonville United, Georgia Revolution and Atlanta Silverbacks Reserve in the east and Chattanooga FC, Knoxville Force, Rocket City United and Mississippi Storm in the west.

A ten game season. Schedule is home-and-away in division with single games against the teams in the other division.

Photo from the scheduling meeting from the GA. revolution's Facebook page...

If you start using SoB as your nickname, look for the several Sons of Ben members who are lawyers to be contacting you.

    Otherwise, good luck! ;)

It probably is the best (and most professional) option for the team. Great location (walking distance to Broadway at the Beach and about a mile from BB&T Coastal Field -- the minor league baseball park) and some history. Unfortunately, it has football lines, turf and a track, but that was probably going to be true of any reasonable spot in Horry County.

    Here's a Google view.

Haven't seen an official number, but I'm guessing about 450 (maybe) and may have been more had the forecast not called for PM thunderstorms. About half way of the first half, lightning could be seen in the distance and in the 72nd minute a squall blew in with heavy rain, 50+ mph gusts and lightning, forcing everyone to their cars. Inexplicably, the city officials would not allow the fans to remain in the stadium safe areas and demanded everyone leave. By the time of the restart an hour later, there were only a handful of us left.

    Here are a few photos...
