Re: 2012 MLS Referee Assignments Is this legal if this is a sanctioned tournament? Some of the MLS folks posted pictures of their new Adidas kits on Facebook. I think this is it.
Re: 2012 MLS Referee Assignments There is nothing "illegal" or "legal" about wearing this if the tournament asks to have it worn. MLS officials receive there kits from Adidas and they wear what is given to them.
Re: 2012 MLS Referee Assignments They got all new kits this year. Grey, a pale yellow, a tealish blue, and the black that is pictured. They all have purple trim, including shorts.
Re: 2012 MLS Referee Assignments It hadn't dawned on me before, but MLS ends up in a unique position in regard to Adidas. Adidas bills the uniforms as being for EURO 2012, but they want they being used immediately after for all competitions. So, in Europe and elsewhere, they get unveiled for the fall 2012 season. Since MLS straddles the summer tournament, US referees get them beforehand. The African Cup of Nations is also an exception, but that's just a short international tournament. Still, it seems like Adidas' policy is that any competition which starts in 2012 will get the EURO 2012 uniforms from the beginning.

Re: 2012 MLS Referee Assignments It's Drew Fischer. They're sporting the new Adidas kit in grey. Looking forward to seeing the blue and new less-blinding yellow kits. I'm actually quite fond of the new look. Oh, and in the realm of things that matter... Fischer's game management so far has been spot-on. There was a volatile situation in the first half with all 20 field players meeting up near the center circle - no cards, no punches thrown. Well handled.
