I'm not necessarily replying TO you, as I know you've been involved much more than a lot of people on here, but I'm just venting/adding my two cents/etc. Supposedly, the bike racks were installed because people would stand in the last row and pass their ticket to someone standing right above the section. Part of that blame should have been on CSC for not catching them in the act, but why not have one person leave with two (or more) tickets? Bike racks are a temporary solution to a problem that can't really be fixed. Anyone could sneak into the club seats or any other section...and there were never any bike racks around those sections. As far as beer sales in the section...Once again, that seems like another thing that wasn't going to fully work. When someone has been drinking for several hours before the game, what's the lack of 1-2 beers during the game going to do to them? Just leave the section, which I'm sure they did, or smuggle something in, which I'm also sure they did. Bottom line -- Neither of those ideas really worked. I know it's not an excuse, but there is a direct correlation between the results on the field and the behavior in the stands. I know I heard quite a few f-bombs and other "negative language" during the last game. If we had made the playoffs and been a strong team, I have no doubt that things in the stands would have been different.
I don't care how many fans you can bring to a playoff match, if your pitch looks like that, and your team is obviously a part-time tenant in a stadium, and not the most important tenant, you're barely a step above the Revs.
Rimando looks like a boxer who got nailed hard in the face. Also, screw the Seattle fans who are booing him after their own player elbowed him in the face.
RSL twitter showed pics after the game... and man did it look a whole lot nastier. There was a lot more blood on the gloves than you saw from that one shot on tv. According to them it was a broken nose to be reset and some stitches. Hardcore.
Yeah, I mentioned that in the other teams' news thread. DC is imploding, especially with that screw-up from Hamid.
Let me do one of those patented self-quotes: I've sat at a bar with Revs fans. Just a little bit of verbal back-and-forth, but nothing at all serious. Handshakes all around at the end of the night. They were, and still are, good people.
Wow. I just got done watching on DVR, and... I'd call that guy a buffoon, but I'd be insulting buffoons everywhere. Holy crap. What an act of stupidity in such a crucial moment.
I have to admit... as much as I hate it -- Ben Olsen gets high marks from me for his post-match interview with Martino. I was waiting for Olsen to blow several gaskets and get himself in trouble. But he said he'd reserve judgement on the ref until he could see replays, and he was actually very positive about his club despite suffering a pretty big setback. He showed some serious poise in a tough situation.
looks like MLS and NYRB are giving away free tickets and Buses to DCU fans for the game on wednesday, saw this on the MLS News thread.
Lots of ex-Crew players in action today. Moffat and Kamara are about to kick off, and Busch, Lenhart, and Buddle should be coming up later.
Seems like I see a few players getting better once they leave Cbus... hmm. That Rocket was sweet though!
I wasn't phased when he left via the expansion draft. He has improved quite a lot since he had that abysmal season with us.
