That would be cool, though I'd guess the Linc is in play as well, obviously depends on the opponent

I would prefer PPL Park honestly. It is THE soccer venue in Philly and we need to establish that.

Depends on the opponent. If it's not a Real Madrid/Barca/Man U level opponent or close it might as well be at PPL Park with high ticket prices. No ASG has moved out of a SSS to be played in a larger stadium -- the only time in recent years that a game was played outside of a regular MLS stadium was in Houston when they played in Reliant vs Man U, but the Dynamo would have been playing rent either way. Chivas Guadalajara, Chelsea, Fulham, Celtic, West Ham, Everton and even Man U (last season) were all opponents in ASGs in SSSs.

So it looks like it is a possibility, but not a done deal. And honestly, I'd believe Gabriel over a random blog.

In July, Garber mentioned Kansas City, Vancouver and Montreal as other possible candidates (along with Philadelphia.)

I'd be a little bit surprised if it wasn't in Philly this year or next year. There has always been an understanding among the teams that if you build a stadium, you will get an MLS event. Now that the MLS Cup is no longer neutral-site, the All-Star Game is the only event going, and the Union are next in line.

Crew Stadium: opened 1999, All-Star Game 2000, MLS Cup 2001
Home Depot Center: opened 2003, All-Star Game 2003, MLS Cup 2003
Pizza Hut Park: opened 2005, MLS Cup 2005
    Toyota Park: opened 2006, All-Star Game 2006
    DSG: Opened 2007, All-Star Game 2007
    BMO: Opened 2007, All-Star Game 2008, MLS Cup 2010
    Rio Tinto: Opened 2008, All-Star Game 2009
Red Bull Arena: Opened 2010, All-Star Game 2011
    PPL Park: Opened 2010, Bupkis.

If MLS holds with this, Philly is next in line, and I wouldn't be surprised if the five years after that were in Portland, Vancouver, Kansas City, Houston, and Montreal.

If it happens I hope it's part of the season ticket package.

I can't see myself paying too much money to see the New York Galaxy All-Stars.

Chances of it being part of the season ticket package are slim to none. Somehow I think even discounted much may even be a stretch, best we can hope for is first chance.

the prices for it at RBA were not cheap, so don't expect them to be much cheaper at PPL Park. Range was $90 to $400, i'd imagine it depends on the Opponent.

Makes sense since Vancouver and Montreal are newer MLS teams than KC and us. Of course, if you go solely by that criteria, then KC would win out. However, if you throw in the idea of who built a SSS first and is "owed" an ASG, then perhaps we edge them out. But honestly, who knows. There are many, many factors that go into these things as they relate the prospective host organizations.

I would rather sit in the River End anyway so my guess they would be the cheapest seats.

Shouldn't we pave the parking lots and figure out how to get everyone out of the area before we invite the entire league over for a party?

I would count on there being quite a few fans of the opposing team sitting in the River End. If that does occur, the environment will be completely different from a typical Union game. For once, the seats in TRE may actually be used for sitting.

Re: RUMOR: MLS All-Star Game will be in PPL Park

I actually sat in the supporters section at RBA for last years ASG. I took my 15 year old son and we sat in full Union gear 10 rows behind Mondi. The ESC and GSS were not happy, but they were accomodating. The gave us a lot of vocal crap, but in the end we were all MLS supporters, so it was good.

When I got these tickets, they were all that was left. They were also the cheapest of the tickets. Imagine, the Red Bulls could not even sell out their own supporters section for a major MLS event at their own stadium! I sincerely hope this would not be the case at PPL.

If we do get the game, I would suggest heading down to PPL just for the pre-game events and fan fest. They were a blast. My son and I got to meet many players and celebrities prior to the game. There was also some serious swag that was handed out there as well.

I guess we'll know in due time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we do get the ASG!

The new ramps to the bridge may help. Other then that, we got what we got.
Not sure on why the lots aren't paved yet. I thought they would have been by the start of last season.

    Thanks for killing my buzz,.:D

I think the lots haven't been paved yet because that area was supposed to be developed into mixed commercial and residential housing. The promise of that development was how the club got funding from the state, the county and the Delaware River Port Authority. So if they paved over that area they would be saying that all they really wanted was get the stadium built and that would not be good.
This is just my opinion though and who knows, maybe they are still going to build on that space.

Makes sense, but I still think they could "base" pave the lots till they figure out what is going to take place.

Given that, riddle me this: where the hell are people going to park when development on that land takes place?
