So a bit about the upcoming season..

    - at the end of the season, the league will apply a 'split' where 16 teams will be divided in half into two subdivisions of 8, each facing its subdivision rivals home and away

    - 44 league matches in total

    - bottom four teams are to be relegated into the newly formed second division beginning 2013, set to be joined by NPA FC and and a select few National League clubs

    - no playoffs expected

    - no League Cup expected

    - season to start in February instead of the usual March start since there are a lot of matches to be played

Keep it mind nearly everything is a sketch at the moment. A lot could change before the start of next season.

I will update the league format as the news come. Meanwhile, we can discuss the offseason transactions in the offseason thread.

    44 games... That's just outrageous.

Wait, this doesn't mean that the K-league is cutting down to 12 teams in 2013 does it?

    16 - 4 = 12

Nice one:rolleyes: Since the K-league is supposed to be starting promotion/relegation, I was trying to get clarification on how many teams are to be promoted in 2013. So I guess no teams will be promoted. Downsizing the division by 25% seems a bit extreme to me but oh well...better quality play at least

What is there to clarify? There can't be a promotion when there is no second division. The whole point of relegating four teams at the end of next season is to form a second division.

they view themselves as their own league not a lower division.

Okay gotcha. I thought that since the K-league tried to promote N-League teams in the past (e.g. Goyang), they were going to try that again.

Well, European clubs play 40+ in a season in total. That's not outrageous.

Actually, top clubs in Europe play over 50 matches in a season with squads that are far better both in quantity and quality and even that's outrageous.

44 games in domestic league alone for K-League clubs is ridiculous. Quality of most, if not all K-League clubs is simply not good enough to endure this kind of schedule.

Would that mean the police squad and sangmu will be playing in the same league?

He said his personal goal for this season is 10-10: 10 goals and 10 assists. Possible? I wonder

If he wants to make a step forward in his career as a footballer, improving his defence should be his number 1 priority.

Sounds like Shin Tae Yong wants to use him as more of an attacking midfielder as he has always been.

I honestly dont think him improving in defence will come anytime soon..

It doesn't matter what role he's playing, his defence needs to improve if he wants to be a better player.

    Probably.

Anyway, for Seongnam, I feel that Lim Jong Eun can be a very good player for them. Honestly i only saw his plays in the Challenege cup. But as Hwang Jae Won is out and im not too sure about the other defenders other than Sasa so he will get good chances early on I predict. There have been alot of big buys in the Seongnam team but Im going to keep my eyes on Lim Jong Eun.
