We already have Mikulic and Berry at CB, with the possibility of Cuesta. If you have better depth than that in MLS then you're wasting your resources.

I'm assuming this is pretty much ending any talks of bringing in a higher quality striker. I mean i guess we could have 6 all together, but we are just as likely to sign the drafted player.
I'm OK with this. If we get to the half way point and need an injection of goals, the option is hopefully open to us.
yea, most DPs come in mid-season. I think that is probably what will happen if it looks like we need more goals.
I like Mikulic over Cuesta so I am fine with that..I do not think Cuesta will ever get the 'thinking' part of the game down well despite his athleticism. However, I would grab up Conde again in a heartbeat. He is simply a monster and can play all through the center of the field. Depth is huge and we could afford that. My question is..what happened to Pappa? I have not seen anything on him. Is he with the Fire or not?
Interesting. My only real beef with Conde -- and it's a big enough beef that I didn't want him back -- is that he will never get the thinking part of the game down. I think Cuesta could be his equal in monsterness but he is much younger and has a better chance of overcoming his mistakes.

We have 7 internationals with a max of 8 allowed. (unless we trade for a spot) We obviously need a GK, most likely Woszczynski. We need a left wide player to replace Banner. We may have too many Defensive midfielders, Videria? Also Bone or Paladini may be extra (unless one of them can play wide midfielder, maybe Bone).
Cuesta and Mikulic will not be with the team in 2012. Do we bring Conde back now? I say yes depending if salary isnt to high. I think he is a better player then Gibbs.
Gibbs is on 150k a year. If Conde would take that, I would take Conde over Gibbs. If he wants like 200k+ then I would just wait on Cuesta to develop or take a look at the rookie. Also it looks like we are weak on the left, especially if Pappa leaves in the summer. How about we give Ramon Morales a call. See if he wants to play another year (on the cheap) and enjoy some beautiful Chicago weather Probably has enough left to be a back up LM/LB in MLS and is still a pretty big name that many fans would recognize.
Doesn't look like the choice is Conde or Gibbs/cuesta, it's Conde or someone new I say we get him, if we are weak in centerback it'd be stupid to hand him to a conference rival to make them better in a position we lack depth
I think CB is the one place where I feel comfortable. Anibaba is solid and I've heard good things about the rookie and Gibbs still has quality. We are much weaker on left side depth and a proven goal scorer (and I don't think Oduro is proven yet but he did get hot last year). And I think you do hand Conde off to NY if he is going to take up 250k of their salary, an international spot, and we can get a nice chunk of that Bolton money they just got so we can go buy some other players.
I read that mkulic is having family issues in croatia and it looks like he will not be back, if at all, until later in the season. Cuesta is apparently some sort of loan/pay to have here still kind of player and thus nothing has been worked out. Thankfully, Conde has not yet been given up because suddenly we may truly need him. Him in the middle controlled by Gibbs with Anibaba being able to seemingly play all over the line seems strong and good for depth to me. I would pay Conde 150k in a heartbeat.
