with the addition of Robayo (and Pardo re-signing), is there any reason to keep both Bone and Vidiera? seems an excess of center-mids to me, when cover at the wings is whats needed now

    Fixed your post.

I would add Paladini to the mix.

Maybe the Fire should keep one of the three, but that's all.

In that case, you don't need to fix any posts. Paladini logged more minutes than both of the other two combined. It's clear he is ahead of the other two. So if Frank is only going to keep one of the three, then both of the players Otergod mentioned would be the excess ones.

Grazzini and Bone are CAM's...who else is a CAM? Robayo?

For what I hear Robayo is a CDM or CM.

Bone, Grazzini, Paladini are more offensive CMs.

I personally think Viderias time is up.

I wonder how much we are paying Robayo? Pardo/Pause/Robayo are going to take up a lot of our cap space and all basically play the same position.

Did anyone see how the Mexican feds repossessed the Pachucha locker room and attempted to take the bus for back taxes? What do you think about offering 2 lower cost DPs (plus transfers) similar to what Sounders did for Fernandez to Pachucha for Beasley and Torres?

I think you mean Puebla. I know they have issues and they took a lot of stuff from their stadium, training facilities.

Not sure about Pachuca, but it would not surprise me.

Also I do not understand what you offering Pachuca. for Torres. (Beasley plays for Puebla)

oh my bad, i was reading it on my phone and totally misread it! Yea Torres is at Pachucha but it was Puebla which Beasley is on. Could he be available now? If Pappa is gone, he could be a good replacement if he can be had at the right price.

Speaking of Torres, he is someone I loved to see on the NT, I think he would be a great DP especially if you can get him around 300-400k. I know he was hurt, does anyone who knows more about Pachucha think they would sell him?

Also there was talk on the Crew boards about Chris Rolfe and how Ives said he was negotiating with MLS. If this is true, I think he would be an upgrade to Chaves if we can pick him up again at the right price. We still own his rights correct?

And I'll throw out some names of out of contract players just to see what people think...

Vicente Sanchez. Could be a cheaper option than Salpigidis.

Fernando Meneses. I guess he was a bit of a hot head, but his highlight videos look pretty impressive and is a young Chile NT player.

On Chris Rolfe, if he returns to the league, he'll go through the USMNT allocation ranking.

Vicente Sanchez was out of contract but not anymore. Salpigidis looks to be slipping through the team's grasp too.

There are still a lot of options even if the team is striking out on signing a big name striker so far this winter. They have the CB and CM depth to make a trade. They could have a summer signing all lined up. They could do both by making a trade to get to the top of the allocation order for Rolfe. Last year's team was pretty good and the team has added offensive firepower with Robayo, potentially with Puppo being an upgrade over Chaves and Barouch is a year older and wiser. There's a certain danger in counting on Oduro to repeat his production but the club just might be doing that while keeping their options open to address that problem if it does happen.

When I was watching the superdraft camp games, I remember Simon Borg saying something about Lucky Mkosana being like Dani Alves. I know he is listed as a FW, but was Borg just talking out his ass or did Lucky play RB at some point in his career? I know it is actually pretty common for former FW to move to outside backs when they move up to MLS. I think Jordan for Galaxy got moved to RB for a few games this year and did really well when Franklin was out.

I surprised we didn't go after Gaul or Urso who both are local guys are were projected as 2nd RD picks. Urso I think has some youth NT experience as well. And we didn't roll the dice on any internationals like Bantan from Liverpool or the U20 Paraguayan kid. Seems like a bit of a waste, but I havent seen any of these guys play.

Fox Soccer Report just confirmed that Pardo HAS resigned with the Fire. Good national (Canada and US) mention of the Fire.

No mention of him being a Designated Player, so I imagine we can safely assume he is not a DP.
What an awesome deal for the Fire.

Oh, and some guy named David Beckham has signed a new 2 year contract with the Galaxy.

Awesome news...(no relation to Don Pardo)

David Beckham? German player? Is that the guy that can't play defense and can't beat players on the dribble and lacks speed?

    ;)

No, Blanco could beat players on the dribble...a lot.

  24. OK, someone explain to me who our starters are likely to be.
We have the following players who have just been signed or are returning, and who seem like sure starters.
Puppo, Robayo, Grazzini, Pappa, Nyarko, Oduro, Pardo, Pause
That's 8 players for what seem like 6 positions. So who sits?

Well depends on the formation right?

[LINEUP-4-5-1] Puppo, Pappa, Oduro, Robayo, Grazzini, Pardo, Segares, Anibaba, Gibbs, Gargan, Johnson[/LINEUP-4-5-1]

I guess Nyarko and Pause sit.
