Corinthians finished 6th in the brasileirao, so they are not even the best team in Brazil right now

Meh. Corinthians is not even among the best 16 teams in South America right now. They finished #6 in the Brasilerao and wouldn't have qualified for the next Libertadores, if they were not the champs. Their last game before this tournament they were taken to school by Sao Paulo 3-1. Right now they wouldn't get out of group in the Libertadores. Flu, Sao Paulo, Gremio, Velez, Vasco, Libertad, Newell's, Mineiro, Colo Colo, U de Chile, Cerro Porteño and Tolima are playing a superior brand of footie at the moment (IMO).

LOL Just realized Corinthians have a Qatari on their side.... the notorious Emerson Sheik whose controversial inclusion on the Qatari NT in 2008 almost got Qatar thrown out of the WC that year... oh well I guess that's a first Club World Championship for Qatar :p

Sorry Lad virtually no one in europe cared or watched, it was on TV in england I wager the average EPL game draws 10x viewers and if you asked Chelsea's management they would rather have stayed at home

Like our defender Paulo Andre said... Libertadores is bigger than these 2 game tournament. CWC is more like a bonus tournament to close a good year.

We went 14 games unbeaten in Libertadores, my country is 5 times world champs, if anything, Chelsea and England needed this cup more than us, since at international level, they hardly win anything.

Considering how poorly they played, it would have been much better for them to stay home.

Isnt it funny the English fans trying to make out the World Club cup doesnt matter when the one time it clashed with their precious FA cup the then European champions withdrew from that competition. Its funny as well as for any English player not that theres many could evet have a chance of being WORLD champion

That's why I said "at the moment." They didn't qualify because the Chilean league uses a cumulative system taking into account the last two tournaments, and 8 months ago Colo Colo were around #6-#7.

Just like Malaga and Atletico are two of the better playing Euro clubs "at the moment." Which doesn't mean they won't end the season close to relegation, if things go badly from now on.

Reality is fluid, and more so with footie, my friend. Former greats get relegated. See Leeds, River, Palmeiras, Notingham Forest, Rangers, etc.
