At least Georgetown is no longer 0-28 vs Maryland all-time. Because this was the semis and not the national title game, their record now improves to 0-28-1!
GTown!!. For some reason I dislike Sascho. Better team beat deeper team. Now I'm rooting for Indiana.
Here's how Maryland's season has ended since winning the 08 national title: 2009 QF – Virginia 0-3 2010 QF – Michigan 2-3 2011 3rd rd. – Louisville 2-4 2012 SF – Georgetown 4-4 Obviously, those are 4 games against very good teams with a lot of attacking talent, most of which has, or will, gone on to MLS. But 14 goals in 4 games is just way too many and having it happen 4 years in a row is a trend that Sasho needs to reverse if he hopes to win that 3rd national title. You should never score 4 goals in a SF and not advance. That's just a waste of attacking talent and production.
Great quote. Thanks for the find. I could not possibly disagree with Anson D more. NCAA Soccer absolutely should conform to FIFA, for exactly the same reasons he cited. No question about it. It is amazingly shortsighted for NCAA Soccer to serve individual local constituencies. College Soccer does not exist in an academic vacuum. Anson D has willingly forsaken the unspoken Manifest Destiny of everyone on this entire website. We want the USA to win the World Cup. Really, that is what we (if there is a WE) are all about here. Right? And if Anson D wanted to put his money where his mouth is (player participation), he would push for more than the fantastically ridiculous and arbitrary 9.9 scholarships allowed per team. I totally disagree with Anson D's opinion.
ESPNU just announced that Eriq Z was a finalist for the Hermann (explaining the soccer equivalent to the Heisman). uh, no he's not - Mullins, Gomez, Finlay. stick to football dufus!
I totally disagree with you disagreement. Even the big money college sports, basketball and football, have rule differences with the professional leagues. If FIFA/USSF wants NCAA to conform to their rules, they can volunteer to fund the college game so that every team has 20 scholarships.
Actually, college soccer does exist in an academic vacuum, hence the adjective "college." If its purpose were to simply produce talent for the national pool, then there wouldn't be classes, tuition, age and eligibility limits, international players, etc. You may want it to be something more, but it isn't. Good or bad, that's the fact.
http://atdhenet.tv/56653/watch-indiana-vs-creighton 15 second ad at start - let it run, then live feed runs.
Easy...he also just said the Indiana fans booed him as he was entering the stadium. They obviously knew something we are all learning.
