It´s a pity that Phillipines don´t play in this competition. If they want to grow up, youth national teams are very important.
There's always the AFF U-16's which they will be participating in. It's also a better that they concentrate on that first before trying to compete with the bigger boys.
It's always a building phase, but imagine if they win the AFF event, then everyone will wonder why they didn't enter the AFC event. Wouldn't it of been worth while entering and then if they had a poor AFF showing they could withdraw? I guess having not played in the AFF competiton for a while is a steppign stone for them, and all they need to do is look at East Timor, they made an AFC finals last year from building from the bottom, hopefully the Philippines can do this. The senior side has set the scene, they just need good administration to keep them ticking over.

I have no idea why the Philippines are not participating either. New administration. Same lack of vision when it comes to youth teams. Now I hear they are not participating in the AFC U-19 either. They are suppose to be receiving funding from FIFA to participate in these events but apparently they choose not to. I read that they are forming a U-19 team under a Spanish-Uruguayan coach to participate in the AFF U-19 so why not take the next step and join the AFC version? Very sad.
Jordan no longer taking part? They were in, now there out. Ranked 8th, disappointing to see them not enter.
