NY's sporting director said today that Le Toux specifically asked for the trade to Philly, so odds are good that he plans on staying there this year.
Anyone know what it means that Perk and Nakazawa were taken off the list for the re-entry draft? Are they now back with the team?
The list. Players can opt out, which would imply they're close in re-negotiations, or at least optimistic. Marvell Wynne also is not on the list any more.
There players are all no longer on the list. Segares, Tchani, Wynne, King, Nakazawa, Perk, Mapp, Gardner, Purdy, Wallace, White.
Fire re-signed Segares http://www.chicago-fire.com/news/2012/12/chicago-fire-re-sign-defender-gonzalo-segares
Patty O'Furniture's husband. And if things work out, he'd love to finish his career here. http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/news/2012/12/daily-doop-letoooooooooooooooux
Parke traded to Philly for Al O'Cayshun. http://www.brotherlygame.com/2012/12/7/3740018/philadelphia-union-jeff-parke-seattle-sounders-trade
In a move reflecting a win for hope over experience, CHI selects Maicon Santos as (I think) the only pick in today's re-entry draft: http://www.kansascity.com/2012/12/07/3954557/chicago-selects-santos-in-mls.html
Ok, since this thread has gone down the path, I started to wonder what MLS player has played for the most different teams. Assuming he signs with Chicago, this will be Santos' fifth team. I did a little bit of searching on the MLS stats page, and came up with a few guys who have played for 5 teams (DeRosario, Albright, Jon Busch, Jeff Cunningham, Tyrone Marshall, Kevin Goldthwaite, Ante Razov, Raul Diaz Arce, Dema Kovalenko, and Manny Lagos). By my count, though, three guys have played for 6 teams - Andy Williams, Shavar Thomas and Alejandro Moreno. (I'm counting the 2005 SJ Earthquakes and 2006 Houston Dynamo as two different teams for Moreno, even though they really were the same team in a difft location). I'm probably missing some guys, particularly guys who played in the early years of MLS, does anyone know of other players who have played for 6 or more teams?
Cornell Glen: NY, DAL, CLB, COL, LA, SJ. And btw, Pat Noonan (NE, CLB, COL, SEA, LA), Special ED (Eric Denton) (DC, TB, CLB, COL, SJ), Kelly Gray (CHI, SJ, HOU, LA, COL), Ritchie Kotschau (CHI, TB, COL, CLB, RSL) and Chris Henderson (COL, KC, MIA, CLB, NY) also played for 5 teams. Atiba Harris will be on his 5th team starting next year (RSL, CHV, DAL, VAN, COL). In case anyone is missing the theme - Yes, Colorado loves retreads.
I was really surprised to find out he had only been in MLS since 2009. It seems like he's been around the league forever.
Shocking that the Fire would take a flyer on Santos. Doesn't particularly seem like a "Klopas-kind-of-guy" to me....but what do I know. And they didn't even wait until next week when they probably could have gotten him at a lower price (one would think). Who knows.
Dom Dwyer of Sporting KC on trial at St. Mirren of SPL for a possible loan. Manager says it would be for a month to six weeks. About half way thru the article: http://www.teamtalk.com/st-mirren/8316543/Lennon-expecting-McLean-offers It was also on the bottom line ticker for sky sports news.
If he didn't re-sign with DC, then he's not taking less anyway as DC wanted him back at a lower price.
Robb Heinemann tweeted that SKC has signed a new player, but he didn't give any indication as to who that might be.
I thought I would ask this question here, Eriq Zavaleta played with the Crew, RSL and Chivas USA Acadamys does each team have a claim? And If there is a transfer fee would the teams split it?
i am pretty sure MLS decided that nobody has HG rights to him ... i guess it was easier and fairer than trying to choose one team over another. at least i think i read that from SBI.
