A very entertaining match, just behind OM on the table. So far the team looks way better than last year. It's hard for me to pinpoint what has really changed.
nothing really (except maybe steed). they looked good for lots of matches last year too, especially at the start. what was missing was the regularity and for that we still need to wait and see. one thing's for certain: even with the players sold the team is no worse than last year.
he started hot but against ajaccio his back was already bothering him. in any case he's been playing on the right so this gives lacazette a chance to get some time.
Just found this Youtube channel that does post-match analysis of the ligue 1 games in surprising depth.
good first half for you guys, carraso with a great save after grenier's shot wanna see a replay of the disallowed goal edit: everyone is saying that it clearly passed the line so the outcome of the game could have very well been different anyways it was going to be tough and bordeaux gave space and time for you guys to climb back and lyon didn't take it, lots of possession and ton of shots compared to us, good news is that 1st place is not far away and OM play PSG next week
THAT, and not trèsmouligasse's but en bois is what broke our back. mistaken offsides calls i can handle, but that buntwipe getting a wild hair up his yazoo to make such an atrocious call on something that gets whistled about once a decade i just can't accept. even duhamel was embarrassed.
Looking good so far in the half against Lorient. Great goal from Bafe. Alain Traore is looking very dangerous though.
not as dangerous as monzon though. that guy is horrible (at least he's looked horrible almost every single minute i've seen him in a lyon shirt).
We were lucky to get out of there with a point. Lorient played us very well today. I can see them giving any team in the league problems this year. Good think Alialidere is one the worst finishers I've ever seen.
at home for sure, especially in the rain. you can say the synthetic turf is the same for both teams but one of them practices on it every day and plays matches on it 20 times a year, the others only twice.
nah, not a bad little lob but nothing to write home about. a very flat match all around. vercoutre with nothing to do but box out a couple of corners, but his kicking game was horrible. bisevac-lovren never put to any real tesy, but kept the area clean. rvr never in trouble but a couple of balls over the top much too long and a couple of crosses to the fourth post... dabo good, gonalons too, covered their zones well, brought it forward, won at least a dozen each and lost very few none for max i think). malbranque again the consummate pro: the turntable, and his set pieces one corner and one FK brought the only real danger in the first half. lisandro combative in an inhabitual spot, gomis beat continually on balls in the air (but as i said, verocutre wasn't hitting him either), briand poor, lacazette disastrous. the subs were serious in closing down the match though, and we got a few chances in the closing minutes. all eyes on bilbao now.
I'm starting to think he's going to be the key element for us this season. He sets an example for the rest of the younger (and not so young) players out there. He might be the closest thing to a real leader we've had since Juni.
+1! and i say it all the more sincerely because i was a consummate doubter! he has a couple of little moves that last night max was copying perfectly! the other big satisfaction has been dabo. if monzon wants to get more than crumbs of pitchtime he's going to have to play about 3 or 4 times better than he has so far.
Some what of a mundane affair but the 3pts is crucial, and I'm happy with boring match where it all looks elementary for the good guys.
Yeah, the midfield looks much more solid with Steed and Max playing together. They seem to dominate the midfield against most opponents now. It makes me wonder what will happen when Gourcuff makes a return. I imagine Garde will try to play the 3 of them in a 4-3-3 setup....that is if Grenier doesnt get the start.
but some of those players might be back for the OL-OM game since who knows when that will take place now.
