Saturday, September 1, 2012, easyCredit Stadion (Frankenstadion) - Kickoff: 3:30 PM CET

After receiving their UEFA Champions’ League draw into what some call the most difficult “Group of Death” since 1999, Borussia Dortmund has to travel to face 1. FC Nürnberg (FCN).

The two clubs actually played a friendly match as Marek Mintal’s testimonial over the summer. FCN won that match. However, in the Bundesliga, it has been a much different story.

FCN has not beaten Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga since a very cold and rainy match in Nürnberg on November 25, 2007. That evening, I froze my ass off watching a disappointing Thomas Doll-led BVB team just fold against FCN.

However, in the seven meetings between the two clubs since that frozen Thanksgiving weekend, BVB has won six times with one draw. Actually, BVB has won the last six consecutive as the draw came in that season’s return match in Dortmund. BVB has won the last four matches between the two clubs by a score of 2-0 each time.

Turning to the current season, FCN opened with a 1-0 victory at Hamburger SV (HSV). Defensive midfielder Hanno Balitsch scored FCN’s goal. Of course, BVB opened with a 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen.

BVB is expecting to have Polish international Lukasz Piszczek back for today’s match.

Hummels making some MLSesque type errors.

I usually don't watch live. I turned it on at 0-0. I had to go do something, turned it back on and we immediately conceded.

    I think I'll change to Tottenham-Norwich.

EDIT: Then again, maybe not. Kuba just equalized. ;)

Not as crisp in the final 1/3 as we should be, but still in good shape to take the 3 points.

Well, at halftime, I don't know if our team is still trying to gel or they just aren't as hungry anymore. I heard the announcer call the FCN goal "poor defending" on Hummels' part, but I thought it was more "very poor goalkeeping" on Weidenfeller's part. If he comes off his line for that ball, he's got to get to it. He didn't, was caught in "no man's land" and we paid for it.

Our goal was f#cking sloppy, but it counts.

To me, this looks too much like the "slow start" we had last season.......

Anyone else think that Piszczek play on Mak should have been a penalty for FCN??

I'm also getting sick of seeing Schmelzer call for yellow cards. That's at least three times I've seen him do it in this match.

NICE 80th minute shot by Schieber!

Still, Reus is a guy who can make something happen out of the blue even on his worst day. I would not have subbed him out. I would have put Schieber in, but for Kuba or Lewa.

Schmelzer is the main one pissing me off today. He had a play earlier where he decided to dive instead of chasing a ball he could have caught up to and has been bitching to the ref for yellow cards at least three times. I used to hate it when Dede did that same shit.

You and I have been agreeing quite a bit the past few days. We agree again here. FCN's boys just wanted it more than our guys did.

Our guys looked like they thought it would be easy and they could grab a winner whenever they wanted to.

Congrats to FCN. They deserved that draw.

This team has to learn there will be no f#cking "easy" matches for them this season. They underestimated FCN and paid for it.

forgot what great atmosphere FCN has at its stadium....a lot of credit to FCN for their organization in the back and Mak playing lights out on the wing...

I think Gundogan had a good game, the combination pass play in the final third was atrocious today...in part because of FCN cut off a lot of space and read the game extremely well...

I would ve like for Schieber to come on a bit earlier for Lewa...
it's still early in the season...
