I'm hoping that it's something completely out of left field. There's nothing I've heard anything about at this point that has me particularly excited.
To try to out-do TFC, both Ben Olsen and Chad Ashton will become player-coaches in 2013; Salihi has re-signed at double his current rate, promising the team that he will run more and score less as they wish; Najar will be loaned out to a second-division Honduran side; wanting to make it seem like #TeamMachete is "keeping it real" the club has signed virtual-unknown Timothy M. Achete from a Div III school to a DP contract.
If Salihi gets transferred to another squad in MLS, things will be set aflame, because you just KNOW they'll start him and he'll win the golden boot by a comfortable margin, likely with a +5 or +6 GD against us. Because that seems to be how things work. I mean, we were almost scored on by Marc Burch. MARC F*C#ING BURCH. And then there was Brandon Barklage's brace...And I don't mean the one for his knee after that Open Cup game.
yeah, the idea of Salihi being traded within MLS does not excite me. One: I like him and wish he'd stay at DCU, and Two: ^^ what he said
Is there like a live anything on dcunited.com or something for this supposed announcement? Or will someone just tweet what it is
imagine a streamed press conference to tell us about this rafael loan. I think they'd have to bring Kevin Payne back in to announce it with a straight face.
Steven Goff @SoccerInsider D.C. United unveiling young Brazilian loaner shortly. Calling it a 'major' announcement, which probably means he's a DP #dcu #mls LOLOLOL this would be pathetically hilarious. I mean, i hope I have to eat my words here.. but WTF? I have to believe Goff is playing a prank here. I think the team is trying to get people thinking its Rafael, to take the heat away from the Agent of the actually signing.
D.C. United @dcunited “He is a young, talented player with solid experience with the Brazilian Serie A" GM Dave Kasper http://bit.ly/XkcJLt #DCU
If I was on twitter, I'd instead go with #DCU again demonstrates their penchant for bizarre player personnel decisions.
I kept holding this in because I thought since it was a loan and he was young we wouldn't be relying on him to replace Santos or Salihi (if he leaves) but more likely the Long Tan role. I guess I was OK with that. However, with this signing that makes 24 on the roster (via the website). 25 if you count Thorrington. That leaves three places empty right now, because DCU has never gone with 30. Assuming the draftee gets one roster spot, we have exactly two empty roster spots right now. We're gonna need some bigger firepower than this if we expect to make the jump to the next level. Thx, Jay!
Hey, they saved money on the release copy by pulling quotes from Salihi's signing last year. Maybe that's going to the stadium fund.
