Still only 23. A new CB must be close.

Yeah, Torosidis is more or less a done deal. Just being held off while some people make their exits.

We have pretty solid squad on paper right now.

We need to keep Stek though.

The defense concerns me, I think our victories in these friendlies are a bit deceptive. More or less every opponent split us apart back there. More or less every opponent we played was denied by the post on one or two occasions after leaving our defense torn in two.

I would hate it if these games deceived us and then we have a string of unlucky results that dictate the defensive performance for more or less the remainder of the season.

I agree but I think we just need 1 more CB, I am very satisfied with our outside backs now if Toro comes, I would say we might actually have the best if not top 3 rb/lb pairings now in Serie A.

I just worry about Burdisso breaking down around november.

I expect Lucca will be moved to the Primavera, so it's actually 22 players.

There is still a lot of time left in the mercato. I am confident that we can get a new RB and CB before it is up.

I want a good CB though, not another Kjaer.

i agree with the majority. i think we are one good cb away from having a very good squad on paper. I'm very happy with the moves we have made this summer.

If we get a CB good enough to make Nico the 3rd CB again, I will have more confidence in the defense or even someone close to the quality of Castan or Burdisso. I think most of optimism comes from the fact that the major issues in defense were at fullback, and that appears to have been improved greatly with Balz and the apparent signing of Torosidis. Taddei is just too slow, and Rosi is simply awful.

Sabatini really is the MacGuyver of the football world. Give him a rubber band and a paper clip, and he makes a solid, young, and hopefully deep roster. I will hold off until Torosidis is official and we have another CB before making that nickname official.

are you sure? I mean, I am sure we can arrange Kjaer to be there..... He will report to Trigoria holding up a poster of your avatar.

Agreed, but we didn't have Balzaretti and Torosidis back then, this will be a massive change.

We are ONE Centre-back from the best squad we've had in years.

    Grande Sabatini!

PS. All this assuming we don't sell core players, i.e. Stek, Osvaldo.
We pull this off and it is confirmed Sabatini is our greatest signing since the Americans took over.

Definitely, very hard not to be really excited about this season.

There is also more of an air of organisation to our mercato this summer.

It fair to say this is Sabatini's first real summer mercato as last year the takeover wasn't completed till the closing days of the market and if Sabatini did want to approach a player he had to go through Unicredit first.

I am in favour with the majority that with Torosidis and another talented CB we will have one of our best ever mercatos and have one of our strongest squads in talent, depth and youth.

If the team stays like this, great job on the ownership.

However, I am not so trusting. You never know if Roma will sell off Lamela if he has a breakout season. They might accept the offer if it exceeds 20 million. You never know.

I just don't trust anyone. I want what's best for Rome

It's been good to us in the past. I have no problem with a lot of Brazilians being in the squad but I wish there were more Italians. I think in the future Taddei and Juan will be remembered as club favorites.

Balzaretti wishes he had gone to Napoli right about now.
