And there is a light on the horizon...

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-mets-santana

Injured Mets ace Johan Santana has been cleared to start a program that could have him throwing before the start of spring training.

The two-time Cy Young winner had surgery on his left shoulder in mid-September and isn’t expected to return to the rotation until at least June.

The Mets said Friday that Santana is medically OK to begin a program as part of his rehabilitation.

I just heard some s************s out of Minneapolis...

I'd be satisfied with last year's record. Mid-80s in wins would be exceptional

    Well we signed Chris Young.

Pelf, R.A Dickey, Niese, Young and Capuano. Looks like that's what we got this year. And just in case one of them does not work out than we have the great Dillion Gee waiting.

couldn't agree more. Would love to have a owner who loves to spend money and buy the best of the best.

Forget Cuban. Vitamin Water guy (sold it for $4BN) is a New Yorker who has gone on record saying he hates the Yankees. That's my kind of owner.

Wilpons borrowed $25M (D'oh!) from MLB in November. "Hey Bud Selig, I'm a little light this month. You got a $20...million?"

The Wilpons baseball acumen was always lacking but I thought they were good with their money. Now I can't even say that. Look for the payroll to DROP next year

It finally happened. Luis Castillo has been cut.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this. He was bothered by injuries and came here as an already gimpy player, removed from his best days as a Marlin. I think he was unfairly treated for the most part by fans but one less player from the Omar regime might not be such a bad thing. It's always disheartening to hear your own player get booed at home and honestly, I'm tired of having to hear it.

Of course, all eyes will be on Ollie to see what happens next.

Is this a case of not speaking ill of the dead?

Look at it this way: However well he may now play for another team, he wouldn't have played that well on the Mets -- ever. Their time together was up. Don't worry about him. Be happy you have a kid like Luis Hernandez coming in.

No, not so much. I just didn't have the hatred for him as most Met fans seem to have. Did I think he was overpaid? Hell yeah. But I never disliked him so much as a player. And I always hated the fact that Met fans booed him. I just feel like it's so counterproductive. I do think his time was up, I just feel bad it didn't end better, but what can ya do?

Besides, second base looks like it's going to be a problem area. I assume it's going to be a Murph/Eamus platoon which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
