Nike gave them the goals that they didn't score in the first half.

    It's the coaching...

This is the same coach that just led Canada to a 5-0 loss to Germany. Canada's last game under the previous coach was a double overtime loss to the USA (the eventual Gold medallist) in the Oly's. Big, big difference. I wait to see what happens in the 2011 WWC before I get too excited about the coaching change.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see how Canada fares against the USA in the final (assuming the USA gets by Mexico which is a pretty safe bet).

No,those were practice games...Therefore they need to go vs. USA{who is ranked higher then Germany} as if it were the WC Final, next year.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

No apples and oranges, just two games against the top 2 teams in the world. Granted, the game against the USA was in the Olympics, where you'd expect a top team to go all-out - but that just makes the case for the previous coach stronger.

Agreed that Canada should go at the USA in the final like it was the WWC. Last WWC qualification under the previous coach, the game went to extended time before the USA finally won. If Morace does better than that, it will be a good sign, otherwise....

Okay, give them a break after a decade of gloom...They should go at it with USA as if it were WC final.

OH MY GAWD MEXICO SCORES FIRST! USA better hit it quick!

That echo-ish mexican commentary is EXTREMELY annoying. I rather he shut his trap. Someone plz stop the commentary........I don't wish to be watching a silent-mode soccer match either.

And Dominguez makes it 1-0 for Mexico...interesting. Didn't she score 2 against the USA in the last WWC qualifications?

I would think Mexico will be worn down physically by the second half

If they can keep it going, this would be a total watershed moment for their women's program and women's sports in general there. Yeah, they qualified for the World Cup once before against a weak Argentine side - but to do so against the big bad US at home would just be legendary.

Italy must be pulling pretty hard for the US right now...

They will be,however,if they are up 2:0 it may not matter...Mexico has an extra motivation vs. the USA.

That's very true - but they may be spending everything right now and have nothing left for the second half. Now that they have the goal, I imagine they will sit back defensively a at least a little to try to pace themselves to last for 90 (or even 120) minutes.

Strange as it is, only Mexico's GK has her name on her jersey unlike her outfield team mates, who only have their numbers on their back.

I haven't watched a full USWNT match in well over a year so forgive me for asking this. Do they play this bad in the midfield and defense all the time?

Mexico's foot skills and passing skills have improved a lot .... making the USA look pretty much outclassed right now.

USA might still force their way ...However,very good performance for Mexico so far...the way I was a little disappointed that they didn't give us{Canada} a game, they are doing it to USA,who I imagine they "hate" the most.
